Our school has high expectaƟons and maintains a focus on conƟnuous improvement for our students, our teachers and our school. Students are at the heart of every decision that is made in educaƟon and we want every child’s individual potenƟal to be idenƟfied and developed by quality teaching in a supporƟve and safe learning environment. Great learning and teaching occurs in classrooms in public schools every day. During this week our school community will have the opportunity to visit the school to see first‐hand the great things achieved every day by students and teachers at Hay Public School. EducaƟon Week Awards This week we recognised the dedicaƟon of our classroom teachers who work hard on a daily basis to ensure that students at our school are engaged in the learning process and progressing in their learning. CongratulaƟons to: Leah Books, Dannielle Christensen, Carolyn Clarke, Fleur Cullenward, Kathy Duncan, Sarah Houston, Ellie Jamieson, Suzanne Murphy, Jayne Rutledge, Sherelle Shea, Fiona Simpson, Rebecca Wall and Ellen Zambon. Our captains, Jim Houston, Johlee Masters, Larissa Sorensen and Ben Clark also received leadership awards from David Lamb, School Director, at an award’s ceremony in Griffith. Well done to all award recipients. Ready Set Kinder Today was the launch of our Ready, Set, Kinder program where our prospecƟve students for 2020 enjoyed a Teddy Bears’ picnic with their teachers Mrs Houston, Miss Pless and Miss Johnston. Ready, Set, Kinder will conƟnue every Wednesday for the remainder of the year and is an extended transiƟon program, designed to provide all of our students with a prior to school educaƟonal program. School Disco A school disco will be held this Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 8:30pm. K‐2 are invited to aƩend the first session (5:00pm – 6:30pm) and 3‐6 are invited to aƩend the second session (7:00pm – 8:30pm). The theme is an 80’s retro theme and students are asked to come dressed represenƟng this disco era. A canteen will operate on the night and the disco will be fully supervised by teachers. Year 6 are hosƟng the disco as a fundraiser to provide a giŌ to the school. District AthleƟcs Carnival Next week forty one students will travel to Deniliquin to parƟcipate in the Deniliquin District PSSA AthleƟcs Carnival. Students have been undergoing training and preparaƟon with Mrs Houston and Mrs Clarke and I thank the students and teachers for their dedicaƟon. Good luck to everyone who will be parƟcipaƟng. SPORTS REPORT Riverina Girls Cricket Trials Congratulations to Johlee Masters on her selection in the Riverina Girls’ Cricket team. JJ travelled to Wagga on Monday for the trials and was selected out of a huge field of contenders. The team will play at the end of October in Raby in the PSSA Girls’ Cricket Carnival. Riverina Girls Rugby 7’s Trials Good luck to Emily Caughey who will be representing Hay Public School at the inaugural Riverina PSSA Rugby Union 7’s trials in Wagga tomorrow. Emily will be joining fellow local rugby players Alice Booth (SOTA) and Grace McLean (Booligal) at the trials. National Athletics Trials Good luck to Nate Clarke who will be competing at the National Athletics Trials in the 800m tomorrow at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush. District Athletics Carnival. The Deniliquin District Athletics Carnival is on next Monday, 12th August at the Deni Rams Oval, Hardinge St Deniliquin. The carnival commences at 9.30am, except for the 1500m races which will be start at 9am (marshalling at 8.45am). Our team of 41 is:‐ Hilton Hargreaves, Kyper Woods, Charli Giddins, Hannah
Junior Boys:‐ Hilton Hargreaves, Dillon Green, Kyper Woods, Dan Jamieson

Students are reminded to wear their sports uniform (tracksuit, runners, hat). They will need to bring recess, lunch, a water bottle and sunscreen. A canteen is available on the day.
Please note as a result of the introduction of the 1500m in the carnival, it is expected that the day will run a little longer than an ordinary school day.
HPS P&C are catering for the bush dance. Beef & gravy rolls and hot dogs will be for sale on the night. Any donations of meat, bread rolls, gravy, frankfurts, tomato sauce etc. will be greatly appreciated. Please let the front office know if you are able to help.

Hay Public School will be having a Book Fair during Education Week 5th – 9th August. Book Fair will be open in the mornings from 8:45 – 9:10 and lunch 11:15 – 12:00.
The school will receive a commission on all sales made during Book Fair. This helps replenish our library with wonderful new books. All shoppers will receive a free bookmark and a ticket in the Lucky Door Prize Competition. The winner of the Lucky Door Prize competition will be announced at the Book Week assembly. Hope to see you all at the Book Fair!
