We are really looking forward to the day when we can safely say……we are back to normal. Our numbers are increasing every day and we are being informed by the Health Department that it is safe to send the students back to the classroom. We are being extra vigilant with cleaning and hygiene. We really miss our kids!! Thank you everyone for helping to keep our community safe during this complex time by not entering the school grounds. I know how hard it must be but hopefully it won’t be for too long. We will keep you informed every step of the way. Attached to our School Chaplain’s Chat is ‘Returning to School’ information which is very helpful as students return to school. Thank you for your patience with the staggered finish times and use of the drive through. Please continue to take care leaving the drive through on to Chidzey Drive. Teaching and Learning Our school staff have worked very hard to balance face to face teaching, work packages and online lessons to ensure provision for ongoing student learning. It is important to remain engaged in the learning process as much as possible. If you are learning from home, teachers will be contacting you to monitor your child’s engagement and progress. There will be a review of the current situation next week and hopefully we will have more students returning to the classroom. So looking forward to having everyone back soon. Associate Principal’s Message
Dear Students and Parents/Caregivers of Willandra It’s been wonderful to see so many of our students’ happy, smiling faces!
Everyone is settling back into school beautifully.
Thank you to the parents who are following our pick-up and drop-off strategies with patience and
kindness towards others. It’s lovely that our community has pulled together during these
challenging times. Thanks too, to the parents and caregivers who are following the Government
directive to not enter our school site at the moment.
If your child(ren) are continuing to learn at home with paper work packages, please remember
to drop off Week 2’s packages and pick up Week 3’s packages on Monday 11th May, 8.30-
9.30am via the Drive-through. If you are supporting your child’s learning at home via Connect
and Study Ladder, please remember to check your submissions tab, or send photos to your child’s
teacher.
Stay well everyone.

Bird Rescue at Willandra PS
“I was walking to school with my friend on the oval. Near a wooden pole I looked down and I saw a bird. Everyone near me thought it was dead until I saw its eye blink so I picked it up because it kept trying to fly away but it couldn't stand up. So I brought it to my teacher, Ms Kraima and she put it in a box and shut the lid to stop it stressing out. While I was at French, Ms Kraima took it to a Native Vet at Darling Range Wildlife Shelter.
The next day it’s leg was fine so the native vet people came back to school to release it. They got the whole class together to watch and as soon as I lifted the lid it shot off so fast and far that Mrs Cornell couldn't get it on camera! The bird is now happy back in his tree”.
Chase S, TA 20
