President’s Message

Greetings! I hope you enjoy this issue of your TAW Newsletter. Although it might not feel like it yet, the birds tell us Spring is in the air-an excellent time to get your shop ready for more turning! When you do, don’t forget to clean your lathe and clear the floor of tripping hazards. Most of all-don’t forget your eye protection!

Your officers and directors had their first meeting of 2015 and it looks like another busy year. We will even have some fun news to share about our Saturday Turn-ins. If you haven’t been to a meeting for a while, come on out. While our average attendance has been close to using all the chairs, we can always find another one somewhere.

Till next time-turn safe.

Lou

Ron Sanda – March TAW Demonstrator

I was born and spent most of my life as a northerner from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I had married my high school sweetheart. In 1986 we moved to Houston, TX for 6 years. Being frugal or cheap I began doing some woodworking to supply my wife and neighbor with wood objects for them to paint as a hobby. In 1994 we moved to Jacksonville, FL as I joined a virtual company in pharmaceutical development. There I joined a woodworking club which made over 2000 toys every Christmas for the local organizations such as Ronald McDonald’s house. I also began doing some woodturning and joined the local woodturning club. In 2004, after 10 years, I left Florida and moved to Nashville to join a company developing a medical device. In the

past I considered myself a craft woodworker with woodturning being part of the woodworking. Since being in the TAW I now concentrate more on woodturning. In 2014 I retired and hope to enjoy my hobbies more.

The March demonstration will include embellishment and wood turning tips with the main demonstration concerning embellishing with egg shells, which was part of Jennifer Shirley’s course at Arrowmont.
