Junior Caitlin Rance and senior Ashley Newsome lead the Bulldog attack, averaging 3.77 and 3.20 kills per set, respectively, to place third and eighth among all SEC players. Freshman setter Paris Perret paces the offense and leads the league with a total of 768 assists this year, good for 9.32 per set, which ranks third in the conference. Tennessee leads the all-time series with MSU by a commanding 37-7 count. UT Head Coach Rob Patrick is 19-1 against the Bulldogs and the Lady Vols have not lost to State at home since 1995. Alabama • The Crimson Tide enters the weekend with a record of 9-8 overall and a 1-6 tally in SEC matches in head coach Judy Green’s final season at the helm as she has announced her retirement effective at the end of the year. Her team’s offensive effort is a three-pronged attack, led by sophomore Kayla Fitterer who has a squad-high 197 kills ranks sixth in the league with 3.46 kills per set. Senior Alyssa Meuth and freshman Brianne Vande Griend have also recorded triple-digit putaway totals with 176 and 134, respectively. Statistical Services Services provided include statistics generated from the StatCrew computer program. Matchstatistics will be handed to all attending members of the media and sports information personnelafter every game. Following the conclusion ofthe match, final statistics will be faxed/e-mailedto the visiting sports information director’sfax/e-mail list. Results will also be e-mailed tothe sports information contact of visiting teamsat theconclusionof thematch in lieuofasportsinformationrepresentativetravelingwithhisorherteam. Arrangements should be made in advance foranyadditionalservices.

Two-timeNationalCoachoftheYearRobPatrickhasdevelopeda tradition of excellence since coming to Tennessee 13 years ago.Following his arrival at Rocky Top, Patrick has become one of thenation’stopcoachesandhelpedtheLadyVolsattainlevelsofsuccessneverbeforereachedinKnoxville,asevidencedbyNCAATournamentberthsinfiveofthelastsixyears,includingaruntotheFinalFourin2005.Hisnine-yearstretchofwinningseasonsfrom1998-2006marksthelongest-suchruninprogramhistory,toppingtheprevioushighofseven,setfrom1978-84.TheBigOrangehaswon20ormorematchesinsixofthelasteightcampaigns.PriortoPatrick’sarrivalatUTin1997,theLadyVolslastrecordeda20-winseasonin1988. PatrickjoinedtheUTprograminJulyof1997afterspendingthe
previousthreeseasonsasanassistantcoachwithnationalpowerhouseStanford.From1994to1996,hehelpedleadtheCardinaltoacombined92-6recordandtwoNCAAchampionships,includingtitle-gamevictoriesoverUCLAandHawaiiin1994and1996,respectively.Duringthatstint,Stanfordneverlostahomematchenroutetoparticipatinginthe1995NCAAFinalFourand winning three consecutive Pac-10 titles.

WithsixNCAAtournamentappearancesandanSECtitleofhisown,Patrick isalreadyUT’sall-timewins leaderwith280in14yearsas head coach. TennesseeisoneoffourSECteamscurrentlyranked among the top-35 in the nation, behind onlyNo.1Floridaandaheadof12th-ratedLSUand No. 31 Auburn. ROBINSON TABBED SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK LadyVolfreshmanKelseyRobinson’sdebutin the libero jersey last weekend was quite the successas she tallied51digs in the team’s twocontests and was named the Southeastern ConferenceFreshmanof theWeekonMonday.SheisthefourthTennesseefreshmantoearntheweeklyhonorssincetheaward’sinceptionin2005. ThelastUTplayertoclaimtheconference’sweeklyfreshmanaccoladeswasKelseyMahoneyon Oct. 20, 2008. Nikki Fowler also earned the honorsthreetimesin2007afterMilanClarkewasthefirstUTplayertopickuptheleaguelaurelsin2005. Inthefirsttwostartsofhercareerattheliberoposition,Robinsonsurpassedthe20-digmarkinboth contests, averaging a stellar 5.67 digs per frameasTennesseesplitapairofhard-foughtSECcontests on the road. JeterwasthedrivingforceoffensivelyfortheBig Orange as she topped the Tennessee squad witha totalof29killson theweek,good forastaggering4.83perset,whilehittingataterrific.328 clip with just seven errors in the two contests combined. BIG ORANGE GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE in its 3-1 road victory over Auburn on Sept. 26, Tennessee hit an amazing .421 as a team with 59killsandjust11errorson114swings.Includedin that mark was an absolutely astounding .708 attack average (18-1-24) in the opening set. The last time the Lady Vols posted such an impressiveoffensiveperformancecameagainstAlabama on Nov. 11, 2005, when they hit .467 (56-7-105).
FOWLER MAKES HISTORY (TAKE ONE) As Nikki Fowler continues to inch her way up theUTcareerkillanddigcharts,shedoesn’thaveanywhere else to go on the total attacks list, as she tookoverthetopspotduringtheLadyVols’victoryat Auburn on Sept. 26. Fowler’scareerattackstotalcurrentlysitsat4,049,surpassingthepreviousmarkof3,881setbyArianaWilsonfrom1998-2001.Sheisthefirstplayer to take more than 4,000 career swings while wearing the Orange and White.

UT TABBED AS SEC FAVORITE TheUniversityofTennesseevolleyballteamhas been selected to win the 2010 Southeastern Conferencevolleyballtitleinapreseasonvotebytheleague’s11coaches.Thismarksthefirsttimesince1994thatateamotherthanFloridahas been voted to capture the title, snapping at least a 16-year run at the honors by the Gators. TheLadyVolsreceivednineofthe11first-placevotesfortheleaguechampion.Theothertwo tallies both went to UF. Tennessee received 11 points to win the EasternDivision, followedbyFloridawith21points and Kentucky with 25. Georgia and South Carolinaarepickedtofinishfourthandfifthinthe division respectively. An AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, the2009SoutheasternConferenceLiberooftheYear and an All-SEC First Team member, Goldman shattered theTennessee record for careerdigs,finishingwith a total of 1,755 to break theprevious recordby281andplaceher fourth intheconferencerecordbook.Shealsofinishedhercollegiate career with the top digs per set average in program history with 4.37 scoops per set during herfouryearsatRockyTop. TheMonterey,Calif.,native led theSEC in2009with568digsand4.73digsperset,becomingthefirstplayertorecordthreeconsecutiveseasonswith500+digswhiledonning theOrangeandWhite.
