A WIN WOULD... } Extend TSU’s winning streak to seven games, tying the longest streak since the 2012-13 season for TSU.} Improve TSU’s record at neutral sites to 2-0.} Improve TSU’s record to 9-3 in the all-time series versus Alcorn State.
LAST TIME OUT } Tahjere McCall scored a career-high 31 points, in-cluding 25 in the second half, to lift TSU to an 89-86 victory over crosstown foe Lipscomb on Thursday night. } The Tigers overcame a 14-point first-half deficit to earn their sixth-consecutive win.} TSU was down by 10 at halftime and trailed for most of the second half until McCall’s three with 1:33 left put the Tigers up for good at 82-80. } The home side would hold on down the stretch and knocked down five free throws in the final 1:17 in the victory over the Bisons.} Offensively, Keron DeShields and Marcus Roper scored 16 points apiece, and Wayne Martin added nine points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Tigers.
ABOUT ALCORN STATE } Alcorn State is 1-7 on the season and is coming off a 68-60 victory over Blue Mountain on Dec. 14 in the Braves’ home opener. } The Braves feature balanced scoring with five players averaging 7.0 points per game or more. } Marquis Vance leads Alcorn State with 10.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. } All seven of Alcorn State’s losses have been away from home.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. ALCORN STATE } TSU holds an 8-3 lead over Alcorn State in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1949-50 season. } The Tigers won the first six meetings before the Braves’ first win in the series in 1961-62. } The last time the two teams met was during the 1991-92 season when the Braves earned an 84-74 win. } Tim Horton (14.7 ppg) was the Tigers’ leading scor-er in 1991-92, which was a year before future NBA player Carlos Rogers suited up for TSU.
IN THE NATION } Allowing 65.7 points per game, TSU is 67th in Divi-sion I in scoring defense. } The Tigers are holding opponents to 38.0 percent shooting, which ranks them 31st in the nation, while the team’s +7.4 rebounding margin is good for 44th. } Wayne Martin is tied for fifth in the nation with 12.4 rebounds per game and tied for eighth with six double-doubles.

LOMAN PRODUCING } After averaging 2.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game in the first four games of the season, senior Demontez Loman has increased his production. } In his last six games, Loman is putting up 5.3 points and 7.8 boards per game in 25.8 minutes. } He tallied back-to-back seven rebound perfor-mances versus Reinhardt and Kennesaw State before pulling down a season-best 12 boards against Stet-son on Dec. 5. } Against Grambling, he registered eight boards. } Loman put up a double-double (12 p; 11 r) at Stet-son.
