Definition: A Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is a species of Monitor lizard that is the largest species of lizard in the world and has a venomous bite that is slow acting.

Quote: This is a smart animal—very intelligent. “Putra Sastrawan”

Statistic: The average adult male Komodo Dragon is 9 feet long and 160 pounds in weight.

It is the largest predator in the region, and is a prime example of Island gigantism.

Natives have always thought of it as the Devil’s reptilian pet.

It is very large with a muscular frame, and can eat 80% of it’s body weight.

They can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh up to three hundred pounds after a good meal.

In short sprints Komodo Dragons can run up to 12 mph, faster than the average human.

Twenty, two inch long claws. (five toes for each foot.)

Up to a 60 pound tail, with re-enforced bone, that can be swung around like a baseball bat.

It’s snake like forked tongue can follow scent trails for miles.

It has 60, one inch long, backwards curving serrated teeth.

A powerful concoction of complex bacteria inhabit the serrations of the teeth.

Unlike most reptiles, Komodo Dragons have a highly developed cerebrum.

Responds to training techniques used to train intelligent mammals, like dolphins.

Can distinguish the difference between the shapes of objects.

Komodo Dragons only interfere with humans when they are being fed.

Their have only been a handful of attacks, and most seem defensive.

They don’t usually attack humans but will feast on an injured/dead human.

It is now illegal to harm/kill Komodo Dragons.

If there are any nuisance dragons, the animal control captures the Komodo Dragon, and relocates it.

It is illegal to feed Komodo Dragons, because that’s what causes Komodo Dragons to come around the villages.

• Herpetology is the study of Reptiles and Amphibians.

• The average yearly salary is $30,000-$80,000.

• The need for this job is most likely to increase because of conservation efforts throughout the world.

• The potential for advancement is high, if your are well educated.

• Some related careers are: Biology, Botany, Mammalogy, Entomology.

I will go to River hill High school. I will go to the Biotechnology

Academy. I picked this Academy because it was

the closest to Biology, and actually need the prerequisite Biology for you to get in.

Delaware Valley College is located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

The tuition $41,488 for full time.

The program requirements are a G.E.D (General Education Development) or an Undergraduate Education.

The school mascot is a Ram.

62% of students live on campus.

The Community Service I was involved in was helping rebuilding houses in New Orleans.

I chose to do this service because many people were affected by Katrina. Doing this makes me feel better knowing that I’m helping people in need.
