Methodology To determine Speedtest Awards winners for fixed networks, we assess the best network speeds attained across a given network, regardless of the performance tier for which an individual is paying. Also, access to ISP service happens over wired and Wi-Fi connections. As a result, we take into account tests that are taken on various Speedtest applications that connect to a fixed network, including tests taken on mobile phones through a Wi-Fi connection. Each top carrier accounts for at least 3% of the sample size in the geographic area. The Speed Score uses a modified trimean to demonstrate the download and upload speeds that are available across a provider’s network. We take speeds from the 10th percentile, 50th percentile (also known as the median), and 90th percentile, and combine them in a weighted average using a 1:2:1 ratio, respectively. We place the most emphasis on the download speeds and median speeds as those represent what most network providers’ customers will experience on a day-to-day basis. 0 10 20 30 40 50 Dom.ru Rostelecom Beeline MTS MegaFon 43.46 32.65 32.56 29.61 10.09 46.18 31.81 32.49 28.79 6.47 Provider Name Download Trimean Upload Trimean Speed Score 43.73 9.73 32.56 32.55 29.53 Speed Score Dom.ru Rostelecom Beeline MTS MegaFon 43.46 32.65 32.56 29.61 10.09 37.68 18.93 22.71 16.66 6.96 91.08 90.29 82.63 82.96 25.29 7.40 2.44 2.20 2.18 1.16 41.49 16.55 21.14 13.40 3.05 94.00 93.70 86.61 87.63 19.36 7.71 0.44 1.08 0.73 0.45 46.18 31.81 32.49 28.79 6.47 Provider Name 90 th Percentile 50 th Percentile 10 th Percentile Upload Trimean Download Trimean 90 th Percentile 50 th Percentile 10 th Percentile Dom.ru’s Q1–Q4 Performance Ookla compared user-initiated tests taken from all the major internet service providers in Russia over the award period to determine who had the best speeds.
