From the Headmaster
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Ville de Marie Academy’s production of
Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Many of our talented students, par-
ents and patrons worked long, hard and joyfully to fashion this
play into a truly sensational work of art.
Mastering skill in the performing arts as demonstrated
by our student thespians in this production is only one of the
many disciplines offered at our classical, Catholic liberal arts
school for students in grades K-12. For more information, or to
arrange a visit to our school, please give us a call at (480) 947-
9441.
Thanks again for attending this performance of The
Tempest. We hope you enjoy it!
God’s peace and every blessing,
Harry A. Plummer Headmaster Ville de Marie Academy
Director’s Notes
Nothing would have been possible without two very essential qualities which have permeated this year—the first being the enthusiasm and energy of the Ville de Marie students, who willingly and ardently do, literally, whatever I tell them to do—and the second being the profound re-sponse for help that I received from our parents. God bless all of you.
As some of you may know, this will be my first and last year at Ville de Marie Academy—as I am getting mar-ried in June to my fiance , Clare—and we will be moving closer to family. So allow me to take this opportunity to personally address the students; of whom I am very proud and am very reluctant to leave after only one short year: (This quote, by Giovanni Boccaccio, was given to me by my Drama professor in college, and its remembrance has proved invaluable to me, as I hope it might for you…)
“You must read, you must persevere, you must sit up nights, you must inquire, and exert the utmost power of your mind. If one way does not lead to the desired meaning, take another; if obstacles arise, then still another; until, if your strength holds out, you will find that clear which at first looked dark.”
Best of luck to all of you,
-Mr. Ward

The three men set off together later deciding to kill Prospero...
