Ruby Max
The thesis of her speech was how mental illness effects all of us.
Wax captured the attention of the audience using comedic anecdotes
Wax maintained the engagement of the audience by using visuals and handmade props to make her points.
I would rate her dynamism a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5.
To increase her dynamism she might consider more hand motions and more visuals
Tips used from Garr Reynolds
During Wax’s presentation she used a variety of tips given by Garr Reynolds like showing passion. Her topics were related to her personal experiences and her passion was very evident.
Other tips from Reynolds that Wax applied included a strong start, moving away from the podium, keeping the presentation short, and making good eye contact.
Some things that I learned from Wax’s presentation was using comedy to engage the audience can be very successful.
I also learned that using visuals can help the audience to follow what it is you are talking about.
Her presentation compared to that of Sir Ken Robinson was not better but different.
Robinson used a lot more comedy and anecdotes to get some of his points across.
While Wax used more hand motions and visuals to capture the audience.
Also Wax’s presentation was substantially shorter and more to the point which I believe allowed her speech to be a little more effect than that of Robinson.
Tips for Classmates
One of the biggest things I noticed watching the TED talk presentations is it appears that the speakers are having fun which allows the audience to relax a little bit.
So have fun!!!
