Business confidence has decreased from 2014, however the number of those who feel ‘indifferent’ has taken up this movement.

Unsurprisingly the most optimistic were those working in the Technology/Digital industry.

IT projects are driving employment with almost a third of Hiring Managers planning to increase headcount in 2015, with a further 42% replacing leavers.

The misalignment between projects and business objectives becomes critical as projects are a key focus in 2015 for many organisations.

The availability of skills will also be fundamental for project success as off-shoring increases.

Skills shortages are still a key concern for hiring managers with a third believing it is the biggest hiring challenge and will impact their business.The market is becoming increasingly candidate driven, meaning those with the right skills will be at a premium.

Cultural fit remains the most important attribute for three years running, however the value of technical experience in a previous role has jumped from 13% to 18% since 2014.

Job seekers have become increasingly insecure in their jobs over the past 3 years.

Off-shoring has added to this insecurity within the IT sector, along with economic uncertainty.

Remuneration

Remuneration has remained relatively flat in 2014 and predictions for 2015 suggest only a moderate increase across the industry as a whole.

Certain skill sets however such as cloud, big data and digital will command higher rates as skills shortages in these areas hit the market.

It would seem job seekers fear of their job being outsourced is justified with a third of companies planning to do this in 2015.

Two thirds of hiring managers report that recruitment processes are taking longer –most stated this was due to internal processes/red tape.

As a result 71% of job seekers have lost interest in a role.
