Banksia Road PS Banksia Road PS – – Class 4PClass 4P The issue… The issue… using drinking water for toilet

flushing…

The K-2 toilet block has 4 toilets in the boys, 7 toilets in the girls, a total of 14 taps and 10 bubblers.

Page 10: Technology in Primary Schools (TiPS) Inc. KDC Built Environment Water Challenge 2008.

Banksia Road PS Banksia Road PS – – Class 4PClass 4P The solutionThe solution … … Plans for collecting rainwater

Our covered walkways … could not only be used to harvest water but also to transfer water from the COLA to the roof of the toilet block and into the rainwater tanks.

Water would need to be pumped from the tanks into the toilet block for use in the toilet cisterns. This would save hundreds of litres of water each day.

* Inconsistent flow from all taps
