Technology is a term referring to whatever can be said at any particular historical period, concerning the state of the art in the whole

general field of practical know-how and tool use.

It therefore encompasses all that can be said about arts, crafts,

professions, applied sciences, and skills. By extension it can also refer to

any systems or methods of organization which enable such

technologies, any field of study which concerns them, or any products

which result.

The etymology of the word technology still reflects the modern

meaning, coming from the Greek technología an 'art', 'skill' or 'craft’,

the study of something, or the branch of knowledge of a discipline.

The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples

include "construction technology", "medical technology", or "state-of-

the-art technology". (Wikipedia 2010)

Computers have been part of

the classroom for nearly 3

decades, beginning with

Apple’s school programs in the

80’s

Technology is part of every school’s curriculum in the US.

Example: the Sylvan Rodriguez

Elementary School, the source

The US ranks 28th in the world in math skills

The longer kids stay in American schools, the worse they do in international competition

China has more honors students, than America has

students

USA scores the lowest in national average IQ among the

developed countries of the world, at a national average

score of 98

Our children will be competing for jobs on a global

market

HOW WILL THEY BE COMPETATIVE?

Stop teaching “what to learn”

There is more information available today than before,

and its growing at exponential rates

We cannot possibly know everything

Start teaching “how to learn”

In order to compete in a world market, we must

arm our children with the most important too that

we can give…

Not the gift of knowledge…
