A computer program with a graphical user interface for displaying HTML files, used to navigate the World Wide Web. Browsers are installed on a user's computer and convert the data received via the modem into a visual web page.Homepages can be customised and are often set by default by the users ISP.

Browsers provide a visual interpretation of HTML and other web languages. HTML is the generic language in which all web pages are written and understood by all browsers. Web pages are linked together by hyperlinks, which can be presented as menus, buttons or images. Hyperlinks direct the browser to load a different page, allowing a user to move around the massive selection of web pages on the Internet.
