SPEAKERS

PASSIVE Passive speakers don’t have a an

amp inside them. Needs external power from other

sources. Passive speakers are lighter

therefore it is easier to rig.

ACTIVE• Active speakers have an amp

inside them.• This makes it easier to carry

equipment but harder to rig the speaker onto a boom.

CABLE

XLR Cable-used to transfer information form the desk to the speakers. Left output of the desk goes to the left input of the speaker and the same for the right side.

1/4inch jack-to connect the sound source to the desk.

Mini jack-could be used to connect smaller items (e.g iphone/ipods) to the desk.

Phono lead-used to connect a C.D player to the desk. The C.D player pluggs into the desk with the desk with a phono and the desk end is connected with a ¼ inch jack. Both are plugged into a channel of the desk.

Kettle lead-connects the power from the mains to the desk and speakers.

Figure of 8 connects the power from the mains to the C.D player.
