Introduction, Claim Location, Geology and History

This report details work done on Mineral Claim Annular # 988262. This claim is accessed by driving west past the town of Honeymoon Bay, and then by turning left unto the Gordon River Mainline for about 15 kilometers, and then turning right onto Hauk Creek Mainline and following the road along the Hauk Creek for another 4 kilometers. Then hiking on foot through the forest, as there are no trails in the area sampled. The Area is a massive Granite batholith, with Diorite and Granodiorite of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. Veins of Quartz with Arsenopyrite, Sphalerite and Galena have been discovered here. Yet previous minfile reports do not provide substantial data on this area. And have been difficult to locate. Exploration of this area began around 1907 and resumed in the 1970's 80's and 90's. Precious metal values are said to be sporadic.

Technical Work Description

A program of exploration of hand sampling was conducted on mineral claim 988262. The terrain

was extremely steep and difficult to walk on and some climbing was necessary. Bedrock samples were

all Granite, and after closer examination, no metal is visible in the Granite samples. Many areas on this

claim that I was hoping to sample were just too steep to be accessed safely without extensive mountain

climbing gear. On our descent down the mountain a fascinating piece of float ore was encountered and

taken.

Sample # UTM Co-ord. Description

1 399979E Outcropping of bedrock in forest covered by moss and lichen

5408246N turned out to be solid granite with no intrusions of any other

mineral. 5 kilograms were removed for further examination.

2 400089E Cliff side sample of granite bedrock identical to sample #1

5408211N at 650 meters altitude. 5 kilograms were removed for further

examination.

3 399952E A piece of ore float was encountered, it is dark purple magnetite

5408274N with veins of quartz and blebs and streaks of what appears to be

arsenopyrite. 30 kilograms were removed for further

examination.

Equipment and Tools Used

This program of sampling was carried out with hand tools. Hammers and chisels and various

pry bars of different sizes were used to chip at bedrock and break open cracks and seams in the rock.

Samples were then placed in buckets and labelled and backpacked to the nearest vehicle access points.

UTM co-ordinates and altitude were collected and recorded with a handheld Magellan

eXplorist 100 GPS unit. Co-ordinates are generally accurate within 5 to 40 meters depending on the

topography, interference from trees and weather conditions.

Digital photographs were taken using a Sony DSC-H70 16.1 Mega Pixel Digital Camera.

Conclusion and Interpretations

The two granite samples reveal a large solid batholith of granite that seems homogeneous without

any intrusions in the area sampled. No signs of previous workings were discovered, except some cut

timbers, but they might be from logging. A large metallic purple magnetite boulder was found

containing about 50% arsenopyrite on one side. I will return as soon as possible to explore the

mountain side directly above the location the ore float was found and I hope to find the source of the

magnetite. And I will also to continue to explore the claim in hopes of finding the previous workings to

sample them for assaying.
