Language Lab

• The language lab is a part of the curriculum (1 hour per week)• We have a fully equipped Language lab with 20 terminals (19+1). • The Language Lab Software includes 6 different modules organized

into workshops (viz Lesson workshop, cultural workshop, vocabulary workshop, grammar workshop, oral workshop and written workshop).• Each module is available at 3 levels of difficulty and in both British and

American English.• Apart from the software lessons, activities like GD, debate,

extempore, JAM etc are conducted on a regular basis, thus giving them an opportunity to practice what they learn.

Mentoring System

• A Faculty advisor is allotted to each class at the time of commencement of first year classes.• The faculty advisors make it a point to engage at least one course for that

batch in all the eight semesters. • The students can interact with the faculty advisor, as and when a need

arises. • The faculty advisor identifies academically weak students, considering

the past record of the student, and reports the same to the committee for supporting academically weak students.• The committee allots faculty for engaging remedial classes, in

consultation with the staff advisors.

Page 31: Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – Phase II Review Meeting

Feedback analysis

• Feedback is collected from students once in every semester (online mode).• This is in addition to the feedback collected by the individual faculty.• Reports are generated for individual courses.• The reports are communicated to the respective faculty by the Heads of

the department (maintaining confidentiality)• The report provides an opportunity to the faculty to reflect on their

practice and helps them to identify specific attributes that needs improvement. • The student feedback is not used to rank faculty or reward them based

on the feedback scores.

Page 32: Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – Phase II Review Meeting

Scope for self learning

• We encourage faculty and students to register for online courses, offered by world’s leading MOOC platforms (edX, coursera, Udacity etc), NPTEL, CDEEP IIT Bombay, and organisations like Khan Academy.• We are in the process of creating our own online learning platform, based

on the open edX. Once ready, this platform will act as an online repository of course materials including lecture videos, slides, assignments, quizzes, discussion forums etc.• We also encourage students to get involved in collaborative learning

through online discussion forums, course wikis etc.• We also offer to the students live classes and bridge courses (Industry

bridge) offered under the QEEE platform (IIT Madras)

Page 33: Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – Phase II Review Meeting

Career Guidance, Placement Unit1. Well furnished air conditioned seminar hall and conference room are available.2. 4 computer labs with more than 120 terminals which can be utilized for conducting

online tests.3. Soft skill development training programmes & trainings programmes under

finishing school were organized, conducted to improve the employability of the students.

4. Conducted Nasscom Employability assessment test for the final year eligible students. 168 students attended the test.
