Split Case Fire Pumps
Horizontal split case pumps are the most common type of fire
pump. These pumps are specifically designed and tested for
fire service applications where reliability of performance is of
vital importance. Split case pumps are characterized by:
Split case fire pumps are specified when the source of water
is located above the surface of the ground and provides a
positive suction pressure to the pump at any performance point.
Single-stage or multistage pumps are available dependent upon
discharge pressure requirements.
Aurora split case fire pumps are built per the rigid standards of
NFPA 20 and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and
approved by Factory Mutual (FM).

Each engine is factory tested to verify power and performance.
Although ratings are shown at specific speeds, Clarke engines can be applied at any
intermediate speed. To determine the intermediate speed power; make a linear
interpolation from the Clarke certified power curve. Contact Clarke or your Pump
OEM Representative to obtain details.
ENGINE RATINGS BASELINES
Engines are not to be used for continuous duty. Engines are to be used only for stationary
emergency standby fire pump service.
Engines are rated at standard SAE conditions of 29.61 in. (7521 mm) Hg barometer and
77F (25C) inlet air temperature [approximates 300 ft. (91.4 m) above sea level] by the
testing laboratory (see SAE Standard J 1349).
A deduction of 3 percent from engine horsepower rating at standard SAE conditions shall
be made for diesel engines for each 1000 ft. (305 m) altitude above 300 ft. (91.4 m)
A deduction of 1 percent from engine horsepower rating as corrected to standard SAE
conditions shall be made for diesel engines for every 10F (5.6C) above 77F (25C)ambient temperature.
Power Rating: A 10% deduction in power must be made to determine the maximum allowable pump load

HIGH HYDRAULIC EFFICIENCY, MOTOR DESIGNED TO EN STANDARDS
The PVM, PVMI and PVMX are non-selfpriming vertical multistage pump ofin-line design, flange or with Victauliccoupling with equally sized suction anddischarge ports.
Stage construction with stainless steelimpellers, chambers and pressurecasing. Pump stub shaft and motorshaft of the IEC-standards motor are
directly close coupled.
All pumps are equipped with acartridge type mechanical seal for easymaintenance.
PVM, PVMI and PVMX pumps havedifferent pump sizes and variousnumbers of stages to provide the flowand the pressure required.
