• Jacqueline Wilmot reviewed the meeting agenda, introduced the interim Staff Liaison, KenHolland, while she is on maternity leave (estimated February 1st – May 1st, 2017), and requestedupdates from the Conduction Task Group, Radiation Task Group and welcomed feedback on theproposed Fire Protection Research Foundation proposal.
• Conduction Task Group: The Task Group decided to replace the idea of using the BritishTest Standard for a more robust test apparatus. UL19, xx, and ULC test methods wereanalyzed and it was determined different parameters within the test method will be used inmanufacturer testing. The plan is to test sample of hoses at 500°F, 600°F, 750°F with the UL19 testing to determine a baseline for the subjected hoses. The term “failure” within the testhas been defined as a loss of 10 psi.
• Radiation Task Group: The Task Group discussed the draft Research Foundation ProjectStatement Form on the “Development & Validation of a new Thermal Radiation Test Methodfor Structural Attack Hose”. The Technical Committee analyzed the scope of the project todetermine if the purpose of the project is to conduct a series of testing on fire hose currentlyavailable in the industry in order to have an initial understanding of the results, or if thepurpose of the project is to develop a full test method. The Technical Committee decided it isnecessary to conduct a series of tests before evaluating a test method that is repeatable andreproducible. The Project Statement Form was reviewed section by section to obtain feedbackin preparation for the upcoming deadline (December 31, 2016).
• Technical Committee discussed possible dates for the next teleconference scheduled for mid-February 2017.
