Boys Soccer: League Champions 2016! By Faerin Parker

The boys soccer team tri-umphed this sea-son! They lost only once but other than that they have won every game of the season and have had 2 ties. With this record came the ti-tle of LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! We asked the coach, Mr. Manware, what

his favorite part of coaching soccer is.

“I like to teach the game of soccer.” He also added in,

“They’re a talented team and a really

good group of kids.” Most of the induc-tees are new players

coming to showcase their athletic skills which shows in their playing. All of the players who are on the boys soccer team have worked ex-tremely hard in or-der to defeat their o p p o n e n t s . Everyone on the team contrib-uted to make a memorable 2016 season for Lincoln.

By: Samantha Bergeron Some of the 8th graders at Lin-coln Middle School and other middle schools participated in a Saturday activ-ity that was held at Middlesex Commu-nity College. In this course, students will learn how to

manage the fi-nances in a family with a combined

income between $ 6 0 , 0 0 0 a n d $100,00. Their task

was to create a poster board show-ing all deductions

from their paycheck and all expenses they will have from

their take home pay. They also had to create a summary of what their life will be and their daily routine at the age of t h i r t y - f i v e . In the stu-dent’s summary, they must have a spouse, who can ei-ther be working or stay-at home. They

must also have two children, between the ages of 1-10 years old. Students have to calculate their income per month, and the ex-penses for one month and analyze how their finances stand. Eighth grad-ers participating in this course learned many helpful skills about finances. On the last day of their class, students pre-sented their poster board in front of p a r e n t s . T h e y learned not only how to manage household finances, but also important life values. Students were grateful for the class and had fun with their peers outside of school.

Just make an account and you can get started. There are all the features of Google Drive plus more. To put it in short, you can make animated projects with the touch of a button. I recom-mend it to anyone who needs to make an animated project or have fun crea-tively.

has been teaching for 15 years and started because she wanted to help people and thought “why not help children l e a r n ? ” She likes teaching at Lin-coln because you get to just teach one subject unlike elementary school where one teacher will teach all the subjects and she enjoys getting to

know all the stu-dents that being on a t e a m a l l o w s . A fun fact about her is that she is 100% Puerto Ri-can and her maiden name was actually “ M o r a l e s . ” In the future, she wants her stu-dents to become even better writers than they already are and, more im-portantly, wants her students to believe in themselves.

This is her first year teaching, but she student taught 7th grade at Francis Walsh Intermediate School. She enjoys “watching students grow and learn throughout the year.” She lived in Ireland for 6 months. Ms. Guandalini lives in North Haven. Her love of coaching and his-tory led her to want to start teaching. “The best part about teach-ing at Lincoln is the great group of teach-ers that I get to work with everyday.” She would like her stu-dents to “spark an in-terest in exploration- of both themselves and the world.”

New Teachers: Mrs. Ragazzino and Miss Guandalini

Ragozzino struggled In reading in middle school, and she had one teacher who rec-ognized that she was trying to hide It. “He helped me improve my skills, and I be-came a strong reader and became very successful in school because of that teacher. I wanted to help kids like that also.” One fun fact about Mrs. Ragozz-ino Is that she used to be a classical bal-let dancer, but then she decided to go to college instead of making ballet her career. “Now, I still do choreography for the Platt High School musicals with students who have little to no dance ex-perience. It’s chal-lenging, but fun.” Mrs. Ragozz-ino wants her stu-dents to gain confi-dence in themselves and to increase their use of academic English language. “Strengthening their English literacy skills will also help my students in all their classes.”
