Surf Safety Program

Our Surf Safety Program in partnership with

Macksville-Scotts Head Surf Lifesaving Club this

week has been such a positive success, as so

clearly written by the student letters of

appreciation to the surf club. This training and

recreation promotes active learning through direct

personal experience and offers excitement, fun

and adventure within a framework of safety. Challenging experience outdoors impacts powerfully upon a young person’s

intellectual, physical, spiritual, social and moral development. Building self-confidence and self-esteem is fundamental to any young

person’s development.

This week the students have become highly aware of the needs and contributions of others by the

kindness that has been shown by the number of local members from the surf club that have come down

each day to make sure this program has been such an outstanding success. Thanks to Cath O’Donnell

and Peter Ross and all the volunteers who have mentored, encouraged, coached, supported and above

all demonstrated to students the ability to sustain effective relationships, at work and in the family, are

vital in today’s society.

I have included the link of how to become a member as the club is such a great resource that the

students can access. The purposeful use of leisure time is increasingly seen as making an important contribution to a fulfilling

lifestyle. Our relationship with the environment is a key

issue facing tomorrow’s citizens they will need to possess

the adaptability to cope with a rapidly changing world of

work and the responsibility to be an effective member of

a community http://www.macksvillescottsheadslsc.com/

membership.html. Mrs Stuart.

Our Swimming Scheme this year at Macksville Pool

has been a great success with 100% improvement in

all students confidence, water safety awareness and

capacity to swim greater distances.

Agile Assassins are off to Sydney

Finally the amazing, dedicated robotics team has made it and

we will be all off to Sydney on a great adventure (in our very

nice blue shirts thanks to Jo). The competition will be tough

as we present our Environmental reducing rubbish idea, be

judged on our robotic skills, design and programming ability,

against the city schools. We will also have to talk about core

values and work together as a team to demonstrate these.

The first Lego League is a fantastic way to implement STEM

abilities, the students have so solve all problems themselves

which required a lot of thinking! Well done everyone, this will

be so much fun. 123 GO LEGO!!
