HISTORY WALLS OF DUBROVNIK

City walls - built from the 13th to the 17th century for defense and protection. 1940 m long and, 25 m tall, the mainland thickness of 4-6 m. At the four corners of the world, protected by fortifications.

Tower Fortress - fort in the north of the city walls. Completed in 1464, built by a number of builders, including Juraj.

Dubrovnik Cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Djevice Marije) into Heaven. The Cathedral treasury keeps gold and silver reliquaries, crosses, church vessels and paintings by Italian (Titian, Raphael and others), Flemish and Croatian painters.

St Blaž Church - built on the site of a Romanesque church, which survived the great earthquake of 1667, but was destroyed by fire in 1706. At the main altar there is a statue of St Blaž. He is holding a model of the city before the earthquake.

Palace Divona i.e. Sponza - Gothic and Renaissance palace was built according to the design of the Dubrovnik masters Paskoja Milicevic.

Stradun or Placa - the largest and the most famous city street. It extends from the entrance to the city through the Pile Gate to Luza Square and a unique urban element that characterizes the city of Dubrovnik.

The Worship of St Blaž is best manifested in the celebration of his feast on February 3rd. That was the feast of all the inhabitants of the Republic of Dubrovnik, as it is today of all the citizens of Dubrovnik and their guests from Croatia and around the world.
