Nokia Siemens Networks DFE 100 The DFE 100 provides Switched Ethernet, E1 and serial data interfaces for transmission over optical fibre. The DFE 100 can be housed in a Nokia Dynanet subrack, for existing PDH networks that require a cost-effective upgrade to support advanced broadband Ethernet services. As a DF2-8 upgrade, the DFE 100 is designed as a direct card replacement, with compatible environmental performance and reliability. The DFE 100 has been designed to empower Nokia Dynanet equipment by providing four 10/100Base-T, four G.703/2M (balanced & unbalanced) and four V.11/X.21 customer interfaces over optical fibre. The product enables existing Dynanet deployments to be upgraded to deliver true broadband Ethernet services, whilst maintaining support for existing PDH interfaces. Each unit has two 100 Mbps optical uplink interfaces. These can be configured for protected point-to-point, linear or ring operation. When configured in a ring architecture, it is possible to map E1’s between any port at any site. In this configuration, the E1’s and serial data circuits are protected against fibre breaks and intermediate node failures. The protection switchover time is less than 50 msec. The maximum distance between nodes is 80 km over single mode fibre and 3 km over multimode fibre. If greater distances are required, higher power options are available. The DFE 100 delivers high performance layer 2 Ethernet switching in a compact form factor. Tag based VLANs (802.1q) are supported allowing network segmentation without being restricted by physical connections. VLAN stacking is also supported allowing network designers more flexibility. Advanced features such as rate limitation on the Ethernet ports is provided, allowing users to better manage traffic profiles. The DFE 100 can be managed locally via the console port or remotely using Telnet, SNMP or Web Server over secure VLAN. In addition, for those organisations with an existing HPOV management system, a plug-in is available to streamline the management of the DFE 100 in a HPOV environment. The Q1 protocol used to manage the Dynanet node is seamlessly transported over the existing V.11 interfaces, ensuring that existing management systems are maintained. Full remote configuration and software download options reduce upgrade time. A comprehensive set of SNMP traps and alarms are provided to assist fault management and isolation.
