Daily testing
Internal circuit testTests the internal crystal oscillators. Compares a 2nd oscillator to the one that is used for speed measurement. Radar will indicate an error condition if an oscillator is off frequency.
Tuning ForkUsed as an external frequency generator. Accuracy is typically +/-0.5%. Tuning fork is rung and placed in radar beam. Multiple tuning forks can be used at the same time to create multiple simulated speeds (moving mode or faster vehicle simulation). Tuning forks have limitations, but they are court accepted in the US and parts of Canada.
Speedometer comparisonCompares the speed indicated by the radar to a calibrated speedometer. This is a qualitative comparison, due to potential variations in the speedometer (due to tire inflation and other factors).
