Tattoos
By Letty
• My project will be focusing on how people get into the tattoo industry. What they do to launch their careers. Also what are their inspirations?
• It would be great to learn how people get into tattooing
and opening their own tattoo shop. I would like to learn what it takes to be a tattoo artist and also what their income is, How to be successful as a tattoo artist.
• Finding the answers to all these questions won’t be super easy I have to interview a couple of local tattoo artists and do some research of my own.
Are they painful?
• Ever wonder how much it will hurt?
• Everyone has a different tolerance level with pain. Also it may depend on where you’re getting tattooed; most people say that getting a tattoo on your rib cage would probably hurt the most.
Dangers of getting a tattoo
• You can have an allergic reaction to the ink, you can get a skin infection like psoriasis and dermatitis. (Psoriasis: a common chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by scaly patches.) (Dermatitis: inflammation of the skin.)
Avoiding the dangers
• There are several ways you can avoid the dangers you might be risking when getting a tattoo. Make sure your tattoo artist uses a new needle. Make sure you take good care of your tattoo afterwards. The most effective way of avoiding the dangers is by not getting a tattoo.
Interviews• Asking people about their tattoos
wasn’t a hard task for me. I asked to people that I knew questions about their tattoos.
• The first person I interviewed was named Reza Ghaidi. The following will be the questions I asked and the responses I received.
• • How old were you when you got
your first tattoo?• “ I got my first tattoo on m 15th
birthday.”• What was it of?• “ It was a zodiac sign.”
Interview cont.• Why did you decide to get this?• “ Uh because, uh cause I wanted
a tattoo for a long time and uh I didn’t know what to
• get so I just got a random picture from the interweb.” (shifty eyes)
• Do you have any tattoos that you regret?
• “ Honestly, I have no tattoos that I regret getting because if I look back at my life thinking I regret the times and memories I had at the time and I really don’t regret them.”
Interview one cont.• Which tattoo is your favorite?• “ Uh my favorite tattoos would be
the cross that me and my brother have and my
• Nintendo control.” • Why are these your favorites?• “Uh the cross is for the stuff my
brother has been through and the Nintendo control for
• the love I have for video games.”• Why tattoos?• “Why not, I think that regardless of
what tattoo someone has, weather it’s an expression or a memory tattoos can be a symbol of that memory, or it can be a way of self-expression..”
Second Interview
• My second interview was with a 23 year old male named, Andres Gonzalez. These are the questions I asked and replies I received.
• How old were you when you got your first tattoo?
• “seventeen.”• What was it of?• “It’s a demon business
guy with script on it.”
Interview 2 cont.• Why did you decide to get this
tattoo?• “ It’s a reminder of my good friend
Jermy.”• Do you have any tattoo regrets?• “ No Regrets” • Which is your favorite tattoo and
why?• “My chest piece, because it’s the
two things I love, girls and Zombies.”
• Why tattoos?• “Because I love tattoos and being
able to express myself without saying a word. A picture or tattoo is worth a thousand words.

Tattoo Artist Income
• Your income as a tattoo artist depends on several things.
• Where you live, the local economy and how much tattoo prices are can determine how many customers you have.
• How busy is your town/city, if you live in a city/town where the population is big then its better for your business.
• Competition, The more tattoo shops that are in your area the less costumers you get, unless your tattoo shop is extremely popular.
• How good are your tattooing skills? If you have won several awards and your costumers keep coming back to you and telling their friends about you then you will be making good amounts of money.
