From the Heart of Your Shepherd Mission Statement “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.” Jeremiah 33:14 It has been an amazing fall this year! It has definitely been nicer than I can remember in a lot of years. Despite that, we can definitely tell that the seasons are changing. That’s especially true in our area where we live in the midst of God’s bounty. The fields are becoming bare as the farmers gather in the harvest. Whether you like cold and snow, everyone knows it’s coming. The season are changing here in the church as well this month. We look forward to gathering for our Thanksgiving Eve service as we give thanks to God for the blessings of this past year. We have so much to be thankful for! But there is another major change that we will notice this month. The seasons in the church calendar change this month as well. The last Sunday of the church year comes on November 21. We finish out the church year by looking to the finishing out of this world. We focus on Jesus’ promise that He will return into this world. He will end all of the injustice and problems that exist in the world. He will safely gather those who have faith in Him into His eternal kingdom in heaven. We look forward to that day with great joy. We mark a new season in the church year on November 28. We can tell that the world around us is anticipating different seasons. We see it at the stores and other places. The secular world is preparing to celebrate what it celebrates. There are also signs in church. The color of the paraments will change to blue, symbolizing hope and anticipation. We are reminded of how God’s people of old looked forward in hope to the birth of Jesus. We are reminded that we too are a people in waiting as we look forward to the advent of Jesus on the last day. We also see the familiar Advent wreath in the church. We see a candle lit each Sunday until Christmas. It reminds us how the light of prophecy burned brighter as the people looked forward to the birth of Jesus. The changing of the seasons reminds us of God’s constant care and His control of time. We celebrate how God kept His promises in the past to send a Savior. We find comfort in His coming to us now in Word and Sacrament and look forward to His coming again. In His service, Pastor Olson

Statement
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will
fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of
Judah.” Jeremiah 33:14
It has been an amazing fall this year! It has definitely been
nicer than I can remember in a lot of years. Despite that, we can
definitely tell that the seasons are changing. That’s especially
true in our area where we live in the midst of God’s bounty. The
fields are becoming bare as the farmers gather in the harvest.
Whether you like cold and snow, everyone knows it’s coming.
The season are changing here in the church as well this month. We
look forward to gathering for our Thanksgiving Eve service as we
give thanks to God for the blessings of this past year. We have
so much to be thankful for! But there is another major change
that we will notice this month. The seasons in the church
calendar change this month as well. The last Sunday of the church
year comes on November 21. We finish out the church year by
looking to the finishing out of this world. We focus on Jesus’
promise that He will return into this world. He will end all of
the injustice and problems that exist in the world. He will
safely gather those who have faith in Him into His eternal kingdom
in heaven. We look forward to that day with great joy.
We mark a new season in the church year on November 28. We can
tell that the world around us is anticipating different seasons.
We see it at the stores and other places. The secular world is
preparing to celebrate what it celebrates. There are also signs
in church. The color of the paraments will change to blue,
symbolizing hope and anticipation. We are reminded of how God’s
people of old looked forward in hope to the birth of Jesus. We
are reminded that we too are a people in waiting as we look
forward to the advent of Jesus on the last day. We also see the
familiar Advent wreath in the church. We see a candle lit each
Sunday until Christmas. It reminds us how the light of prophecy
burned brighter as the people looked forward to the birth of Jesus.
The changing of the seasons reminds us of God’s constant care and
His control of time. We celebrate how God kept His promises in
the past to send a Savior. We find comfort in His coming to us
now in Word and Sacrament and look forward to His coming again.
STEWARDSHIP NEWS AND VIEWS By the time you read this, most of the leaves will be off of the trees. They have served their purpose for the year. They now lay on the ground dried up and useless. The growing season has come to an end and we begin to wonder what the winter months will be like. As we celebrate the Reformation, we know that we are saved by grace alone. But the work of God's kingdom is ongoing. It requires our time, talent, and treasures all year long, not to buy us eternal life, but to carry on the work of His church. So don't be like a leaf that dries up in the fall and has no purpose. Don't let your faith and actions become dormant over the next few months. Give to the Lord in any way you can. Serve him with gladness and thanksgiving for all He has done for us. COLOSSIANS 3:23. Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. In Christ, Karen Belter, Chris Janda, Jean Pieschek
