Once I had done this I started writing my synopsis for the story and draw/edit some images that would help tell my story. This was when I figured out that I didn’t understand how to use Adobe Photoshop (I couldn’t remember out how it works so I did the tutorial again and still couldn’t remember) and I didn’t know Adobe Illustrator very well (I drew over my own lines for hours when I could have easily used pathfinder to cut out what I needed). During this week I focused on my pre-production. In the pre-production I carried out research into my story and the character in the story. I started off by carrying out research into art that would relate to my game. The visual research I carried out was in futuristic buildings, destroyed buildings, futuristic military vehicles and special effects. After this I started on my character profile and wrote about my character’s history and looks.

This week I carried on with my images. I have completed two imaged and have started, but not completed another image. I have planned to start taking photos of my main character for the concept. I have drawn some ideas and some very basic concepts about how my character will pose in the concept art and the background for my concept (which is the Slideshare file attached to the blog). Because of some of the concept ideas I have edited Task 1 and put in extra concepts for clothing and futuristic guns. I have chosen the background for the concept art. The concept will have a background of a futuristic, well-built city on one side and a poor, devastated city on the other. These are to symbolise to fact that one force in this war is poor, and ‘rundown’; while the other is rich and futuristic. I haven’t chosen my character yet, but I know he will appear in the centre of the image. This week I carried on with my images. I finished the incomplete image and finished the last two building images. I have planned to start taking photos or my main character of the image.

I chose the image that I would replicate my games world the best. My images of structures and my characters would be made on Adobe Illustrator. I will make my images with normal straight lines and Bezier Curves where I need them. An example of where I used straight lines in on the blue skyscraper below and an example of Bezier Curves is the modern white building below.

I have brought in the photos of my ideas for my characters poses. I have decided that there will be two characters that star in the image: the main character and another solider that is next to him, watching his back. The poses were done using legal replica guns to try and get the best pose and lighting for the image. I also tried to wear cloths slightly similar to that my character will be wearing (a green top with brown trousers).

Also, during this week I had started and finished the last two of my background images and started work on my main character.

I finished off my character by drawing the gun on him. I gave the gun had a blue colour scheme to make it look nicer and unique. One my character was finished, now I decided that I didn’t want to put is a second character due to worries about whether I had the time to do a second character I put all of the images together to make the art work.
