Magazine Analysis

Page 2: Task 3

The dominant image is unconventional

because it takes up most of the front

cover and covers up half of the logo. An image this large is

rare and challenges the conventions of

front covers.

Classic magazine tagline that is on every

issue.

Very little wording on the front cover because the image

of Bono is dominant.

Barcode is conventionally in the bottom corner

of the page.

Bono is looking at the camera from an angle which is

once again unconventional.

Footer

Bono is such an iconic figure in the music

industry that he can take up a whole front

cover. If it was someone of lesser stature the image would be smaller.

Page 3: Task 3

The page uses a really dull grey colour which makes the page look

uninspiring.

Pete Doherty is the celebrity used on the page. In the image he is holding a carling

and looks drunk and scruffy. Straight away this signals what the

content of the magazine will be like.

Date and issue are at the top.

The size of the font used is quite small

and insignificant. This might be so that the

attention of the reader stays on the image of

the celebrity.

The colour scheme is very simple and

doesn’t stand out on the page. The

subdued nature of the magazine is kept

throughout.

This quote shows the magazine is dealing with some serious

issues in the interview. Instantly this shows

that there is a specific target audience and it is not suitable for younger

people.

Page 4: Task 3

The spread is full of pictures which breaks down the information and makes it easier for the reader to

digest the content.

All of the pictures

are anchored

with a descriptio

n of the picture itself.

Very small article because the spread is focussing on

the images.

There is a competition which encourages the readers participation.

Serif font.

The members of the band Mcfly are all dressed in racing attire. This shows that they are out of their

comfort zone and doing something that is a one off just for the magazine.

The first letter of the article takes up 3 lines to indent the text and Draw the

attention to the start of the article

The image shows that the band are fun and up for a laugh by

taking part in the activity.
