Task 2 Our initial ideas for our ancillary products were to use pop artists such as Rihanna, Rita Ora, Lady GaGa etc. as our inspiration. We posted a blog post explaining how we would use their ideas to create our own ideas and final ancillary products. Our initial ideas for Digipak: a head shot of the artist as it focuses on the singer, representing star persona A neutral colour background Use of Photoshop to create striking font Information about the artist, music, producers etc. Space for CD’s – Pictures of the artist behind We researched a number of digipaks to help us follow the pop conventions when creating our ancillary products. We found out that many pop digipaks contain lyrics to the songs, information about the artist (like a short bio), screen grabs from the music videos, information about upcoming albums, bonus tracks

Task 2Our initial ideas for our ancillary products were to use pop artists such as Rihanna, Rita Ora, Lady GaGa etc. as our inspiration. We posted a blog post explaining how we would use their ideas to create our own ideas and final ancillary products. Our initial ideas for Digipak:• a head shot of the artist as it focuses on the singer, representing star persona• A neutral colour background• Use of Photoshop to create striking font• Information about the artist, music, producers etc.• Space for CD’s – Pictures of the artist behind• We researched a number of digipaks to helpus follow the pop conventions when creating ourancillary products. We found out that many pop digipaks contain lyricsto the songs, information about the artist (like a short bio), screen grabs from the music videos, information about upcoming albums, bonus tracksetc.

Our initial ideas for the magazine cover:• Follow the pop conventions• Researched pop artists such as Cheryl Cole, Beyoncé etc. on a magazine cover

What we found out:Mise en scene: - normally obvious makeup, airbrushed- Costume = fashionable, trendy with

jewellery- Colours = vary from neutral to bold- Location = Most of the time at a studio set,

sometimes can be in such locations as, desert, beach, forest etc.

- Lighting – artificial to create shadows on face and flawless skin

- Props – minimal. Sometimes things used in music video.

Most pop culture magazine covers are a mid shot to head shot image of the artist, in fashionable (sometimes eccentric) outfits, varying artificial colours and mostly a plain white background.

Combining our ancillary texts with our main product:

We intend to use screen grabs from our music video and use them inside our digipak.

We may use one of the locations used in the music video, as the location for the magazine cover shoot.

We will use lyrics from our main product and combine it with our digipak and maybe even in the magazine.

The theme of the digipak will mainly revolve around our main product – for example, neutral colours but bold letters to emphasise the meaning of the lyrics.
