Through these eyes

Gears of My Childhood Seymour Papert

A reflection

Page 2: Task 2

A life at the foot of this montains on a ranch with lots of horses.

Wildness outside and freedom inside.

Just a few rules such as summer “siesta” time - full of reading and stories.

Learning environment

Page 3: Task 2

NO TV… Few industrial toys, a dog sled made from a baby carriage and my first mobile:

Page 4: Task 2

NO kindergarten ( just two little brothers to teach!)

A mother as a pioneer, practicing schooling teaching.

By the time I started school I was reading and doing math in order to resolve problems, although I did not write exercises or sentences if not needed!

I can swear, from that time I’ve learned:

NO to saying yes if I’m thinking no.

NO to learning by heart but “from my heart”.

NO to just following the flock .

NO to aceptting a “no” without a reason.

An answer not to what I’ve learned but

how I did it.

The more enjoyable learning moments in my life are connected

to my capability to (…) “retain in

adulthood attributes like

idealism, experimentation

and wonder” (Joichi Ito)
