Advertising IndustryPhotography is used to help the companies advertise and try to sell a product and service. You would usually find advertising photographers working with advertising agencies or design firms.

The pictures too the right represent some of the photos used for advertising. These Photos are by well known photographers such as Jonathan Knowles, Justin Windle and Michael Molloy. I prefer the Carling advertisement the most because the image is clear and concise. Also the slogan that has been used Practice makes perfect is a well known saying. So the photographer has used Carling to change the slogan to Practice makes…Carling. This message is clear and works well with the image of he product, which can clearly ben seen as the main subject as it is centred in the image.

Fashion IndustryPhotography is used in he fashion industry, much like advertisement. To sell New products, highlight new ranges and Pull people in. Examples of these would be Vogue, Topman.

Photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier and Steven Meisel work to advertise fashion line ups. To the right is some of their work. Some photographers use abstract photographs to pull people into because they don’t understand what the image represents so they are intrigued by the concept that the photographer is trying to portray. Other photographers used standard model portrait photographs which ties in with the magazine covers that I am doing. This would usually be a young beautiful model showing off the fashion designers new clothes line. This works well as it can be used for a variety of work such as adverts or magazine cover as shown on the right hand side.

Music IndustryThe music Industry use photography to promote there music. By using it on their Albums, Posters and Magazines. You would usually see this at gigs and festivals that the band or artists are attending. Now a days photographers would use social networking sites and the internet to spread the photos and promote the music to a wider audience. Some of the photographer you will see I the music indstr are Kevin Cummins, Mick Rock Andy Fallon Andrew Cotterill, Paul Harries, Mick Hutson, Roger Sargent and Andy Willsher. These images work well because the photographer tries to capture the artists during their performance giving a live thriving photograph. Most photographers try to capture the artist /bands style in one photograph. Sometimes you will see images such as these to he right as Album covers.

Photo journalismPhoto Journalism is a particular form of journalism. The photographer collects and edits images in order to tell a news story. This is usually through images alone.

Timeliness — the images have meaning in the context of a recently published record of events.Objectivity — the situation implied by the images is a fair and accurate representation of the events they depict in both content and tone.Narrative — the images combine with other news elements to make facts relatable to the viewer or reader on a cultural level.

Some of the examples to the right are photos taken by Dorothea Lang Robert Capa, Romano Cagnoni. These are of memories of old news stories.

Fine Art PhotographyFine Art photography is created from the vision of the photographer. This is usually capturing a event which provides a visual documentation

"Fine art photography": "A picture that is produced for sale or display rather than one that is produced in response to a commercial commission"

The main photographer I was able to find was Scott Mead. A well known photographer for fine art.
