How do I look? CAN PEOPLE BE JUDGED

BY THE APPEARANCE OF THEIR TEETH, THE MAJORITY AGREED WHICH SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT PEOPLE ARE QUICK TO MAKE SNAP JUDGEMENTS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE BASED ON THE APPEARANCE OF THEIR TEETH , EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF VERBAL INFORMATION

Appearance can mean everything, having a damaged smile can really affect a person’s self esteem, and along with that give them a low self image of themselves. Missing, stained, or crooked teeth can lead to people not smiling at all, embarrassed of what others will think of their oral imperfections. Having some crooked teeth or missing several could lead people to be very shy and have reservations of being in large public groups. It could be embarrassing, looking at everyone else’s smiles and being envious, even making a person hesitant to get up and speak in public. Crooked teeth can cause anxiety for people, always worrying about whether or not to get braces, and for adults they also are worried of what their coworkers or family would think of them.

Children can also be victim to low self esteem due to their still forming teeth. Bullies can be cruel, and make fun of other children with gaps or crooked teeth, or even worse, making fun of children because they are trying to correct their teeth with braces. The children with the imperfections could also be embarrassed in front of their friends to smile, or acknowledge they have braces at all and refusing to show them from fear of embarrassment. The appearance of the teeth can very easily isolate children, and make them reluctant to join in social activities in school. However, orthodontic treatment can help repair your teeth in a variety of ways.

A person’s mouth is one of the first things you see when meeting someone new, and a first impression will be made based on your appearance. Having bad teeth can make someone make false judgement about you, without properly getting to know you first. Its an unfortunate happening, but the first impression always sticks in the back of a person’s mind. However there are things you can do to help you correct your teeth.

1.Hold a 18”( 450mm) length of Floss between your fingers and wrap the ends of the floss around middle fingers until there’s about 3”(60mm to 75mm) between them.

2.Turn your hands so that the floss lies over the thumb pad in your right hand and over your middle and index finger of your left hand. This should leave about 1” (25mm) between finger and thumb.

3.Look in a mirror and, to floss top teeth, guide the floss gently between the teeth in a short sliding motion. Avoid snapping it betweenYour teeth as this could injure your gums.

4. Curve the floss around your teeth in ‘C’ shape and press firmly against the side of the tooth. Move toward one side first, sliding up down then repeat on the other side. Move the floss gently under the gum to remove plaque.

You may find this tricky at first, but persevere. Practice makes perfectAnd you should soon master the technique.
