Taos International became a PYP & MYP Candidate school on August 2016 and is seeking to become authorized by 2020 to continue teaching and developing the Primary Years and Middle Years Programme. Taos International teachers are trained to prepare IB units, which are innovative, rigorous, and aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The IB program at Taos International encourages students to: • Grow intellectually, socially, and culturally • Gain knowledge of events that occur locally, nationally and globally. • Appreciate and reflect on their learning • Learn and/or improve proficiency in a second language (Spanish) • Think critically, build problem- solving skills, and work collaboratively • Acquire a balanced education that includes social studies, math, science, art, music, language arts, technology and physical education • Increase understanding of current events that are occurring locally, nationally and globally PYP MYP Design Cycle Primary Years (PYP) & Middle Years (MYP) Program Grades K-8th The PYP & MYP provides a curriculum framework for all students in Kindergarten–8 th grades that focus on the development of the students’ social, physical, emotional, cultural, and academic needs. The PYP/MYP strives to help children develop an international perspective – to become aware of and sensitive to the points of view of people around the world. Students have the opportunity to learn and practice a second language (Spanish) and are challenged to become internationally-minded, reflective, and responsible young citizens of the world.
