After a steep initial ascent from Sunrift Gorge, this trail winds steadily upward beneath towering cliffs and along the red, rushing gorge of Baring Creek. Pass through the skeletal remains of gnarled and fire-ravaged trees to a postcard-perfect, cascading waterfall, and then continue up to the first switchbacks below Siyeh Pass for a peek at Sexton Glacier and St. Mary Lake. 3½ hours, strenuous 5-mile (8 km) hike Sunrift Gorge Hike to Baring and St. Mary Falls Experience the breathtaking views from Sun Point and then venture down the trail to discover the splendor of Baring and St. Mary Falls.
