When it comes to picking the perfect mango, colour isn’t the best indicator of ripeness, as you’d expect. To know if a mango is ripe you need to squeeze it gently – a ripe mango will give slightly. Ripe mangoes usually have a fruity aroma coming from the end with the stem. If you’d like your mangoes to keep ripening, don’t put them in the fridge straight away. Wait until they ripen before you put them in the fridge. Fully ripe mangoes can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days. Never store your mangoes in plastic bags – mangoes need to breathe!
