WHAT L IES AT THE ROOT OF THIS CONFLICT?

Some western values contradicts the core values of

islam. For example, how women are

allowed/expected to dress is drastically different.

WHAT FORM DOES THIS CONFLICT TAKE?

There is open violence in the form of a war going

on in the middle east.

There is discrimination against muslims in the US.

WHAT IS THE SPATIAL EXTENT OF THE

CONFLICT?

This conflict occurs in the middle east and in the

US.

HOW LONG HAS THERE BEEN TENSION/CONFLICT?

The conflict started when Taliban terrorists hi-

jacked a plane and crashed it into the world trade

center on November 11, 2001.

It has been going on for 12 years.

Because of this conflict, there is much bad blood

between US citizens and middle easterners. In the US,

there is often racial profiling against middle easterners.

In the middle east, there is often open hate directed at

America.

Also, approximately 172,000 people have died in the

war.

EXAMPLES OF HOW CONFLICT PRESENTS ITSELF AT A GLOBAL,

REGIONAL AND LOCAL SCALE

There is currently a war going on.

There is increased security at US airports.

There is racism both ways.
