development needs of businesses in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Conclusions• Majority of respondents had 1-25 employees.

• Most employee training budgets fall into the $1-$500 range.

• The budget for companies with 1-25 employees are also in the $1-$500 range.

• More companies are interested in training than not.

• 92% of businesses employ at least some Millennials.

• Face to face is still the most widely used method of delivering training.

• Almost no businesses prefer a solely online based training program.

• Training is mostly a mixture of informal and formal. Strictly formal training is the least used.

• A blended training plan is the most preferred method by businesses.

• Communication, specialized, company specific, time management, and leadership are the 5 most important skills that need developing.
