BULLETIN BOARD
Lisa Behnke
Guest ServicesManager
Lisa Behnke has lived in the Village of Lindenhurst since 1993 with her husband Jim. Their family includes Alexis and David, who grew up participating in Park District programs and events. At one time or another they have all worked or volunteered for the LPD. Lisa was elected to the Board of Park Commissioners in 2001 and served until May of 2017, when she resigned so she could join the staff of the organization that has been such an integral part of her and her family’s life. Prior to joining the Lindenhurst Park District, Lisa worked at the Park District of Highland Park as well as the Lake Bluff Park District.
“Park Districts are a wonderful community asset. The people who work in this field take their mission to heart. I feel so lucky to have come full circle to be able to work at my own local Park District. The best part of my job is to see people of all ages enjoy what we have to offer, and to get to know our customers on a personal basis.”
When Lisa is not at work you can find her out riding her bike, jazzercising, tending her garden, and hanging out with friends and family. Her passion and favorite thing to do is to create art at her little studio up in Antioch.

Park District Rx – No need for a prescription, we’ve got the cure for your winter blues! Let’s Unplug, Lindenhurst! The Lindenhurst Park District offers 19 parks, 2 beaches, a splash pad and a gamut of programs and events that are perfect for the entire family. The benefits are endless – improvements in health and wellness, decreased stress levels, and personal growth and development – life is healthier and happier with us!
This spring/summer season, bring your family to make memories at a few of our favorites like the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Kids Fishing Derby at John Janega Park and our ever-popular Touch-a-Truck event. But keep your eyes out for a few new and exciting events like the Cinco de Miles 5K Run/Walk and Pop-Up in the Park. Also, don’t forget to add our Wednesday evening Live Music in the Parks Concert Series to your weekly calendar – these are a must see! Let your kids run around and enjoy Summer Kids Fest with live entertainment on Tuesdays at Mallard Ridge Park.
The District offers plenty of classes that will teach new skills or further an existing hobby for your children like musical theatre, dance, STEAM classes and our growing T-Ball league. Adults, we’ve got you covered too – classes like Art Ignite Thursdays and Cooking at the Mansion give you an opportunity to learn something new and have fun doing it!
Looking to increase your activity level? Look no further than your local neighborhood park, or our very own Community Center. Fitness is fun outdoors and we have parks and trails that connect to the greater Lake County Forest Preserve Trail system. If you prefer to workout indoors, our Community Center offers a walking track as well as a variety of fitness equipment. Check-out our Workout 101 on page 28.
Don’t forget, we have some amazing camps to keep your kids learning and laughing all summer long! From preschool to school age, from general to specialty, which includes a NEW all-day Sports Camp, we offer a variety of options to fit your care needs.
I encourage you to look for ways to Unplug with us this season! Get out and enjoy nature, find a new program or enjoy an event with us!

Operation Green Tree-Give the Gift that Grows!Plant a tree in your community or neighborhood park through the Lindenhurst Park District Tree Dedication Program. This beneficial program not only enhances the quality of life in our community, but allows you or your family/group/organization to recognize an individual or organization. We will work with you in selecting a tree to be planted in one of our many parks selected by you. Your donation (avg. $300) of a new purchase or donation of an existing tree, evergreen or spruce (at least 3” trunk/8’ high) of mutually agreed upon species is a great gift to someone, or in memory of someone special. It’s also great recognition for your group or organization. Call Dave Mohr Jr., Executive Director at 847.356.6011 x 105 or [email protected] for more details.

Our Philosophy
Our Curriculum Our curriculum, guided by the Illinois Early Learning Standards, is founded on the belief that children learn best through creative play and exploration. Our classrooms and curriculum have been carefully designed to promote varied learning experiences. Children participate in individual, small group and whole group activities on a daily basis.
We strive to prepare our preschoolers for elementary school by incorporating activities into our program that promote development of social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language skills.
Our teachers recognize the unique learning styles, needs, and interests of each child and work diligently to offer learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate considering our students’ ages, individual needs, and social and cultural contexts.
…a fun place to learn & play!
Requirements •All children will need a birth certificate on file before the first
day of school.•All children must be able to use the restroom independently by
the first day of class unless enrolled in the 2.5-year-old class.
