Stability is not often cited as a goal but best exemplifies what was needed for the organization as a platform to build towards new goals and achievements. The previous year was a tumultuous time for the organization and the leadership recognized that steering the organization into calmer waters was the correct course. Greater stability was achieved through focusing all stakeholders on what The ArtsCenter does best—educating and inspiring artistic creativity and enriching the lives of people of all ages. The statistics on the next page underline the success of this effort. The organization served a record 110,000 individuals and a profit of over $24,000 during fiscal 2014/15. These achievements would not have been possible without three components: a dedicated board prioritizing goals and opportunities, a solid staff working together as a team ably managing the day to day activities and programs, and the leadership of Interim Executive Director Noel James. Noel came into the organization with a clear understanding of what needed to get done, and accomplished her goals of mending the organization and steering it in a new more collaborative direction. I am very grateful to all these volunteers and staff that have had an important impact on stabilizing The ArtsCenter. As the new Executive Director I look forward to working with the staff, board and community to set new goals and see how The ArtsCenter can strive to serve more residents of the region with new programs and initiatives that enable all to participate and engage in the arts. I’m thrilled to have moved to the area and given the opportunity to meet the artists, patrons and supporters of The ArtsCenter and to determine how we can determine the course for the organization’s next forty years!
