2. Benefits to teachers 5. Benefits to Teachers Improved lecture Notes can be saved abilityfor later delivery tostudents Allows easier annotation of lecture Can be saved to a notes (Al- central server, allowing Zoubi, Sammour, Al-students access to the Zoubi, 2007) notes whenever toserve as a supplement Easier to import to their notes graphics and add equations to the lecture Easier ability to review student work 6. Benefits to Students 7. Benefits to Students Distance Education Students view feedback that is written as being personal (McVey, 2008). Students are able to identify more easily where the feedback needs to be applied (Steinweg, Williams, & Warren, 2006, p. 11) Overall in distance education the tablet pc provides an improved experience for students because it makes the class more personal 8. Benefits to Students Traditional Classroom Setting Removes the physical barrier of the screen between the teacher and the student (part of the reason for the creation of the tablet pc) Can create a seamless learning experience between home and school (Kerawall, Oconnor, Underwood, duBoulay, Holmberg, Luckin, Smith, & Tunley, 2007, p. 301) Improves note taking for the students (Gill, 2007). 9. Benefits to Students Lectures become easier to follow because they know they will have access to the material later. All I had to do was follow the problem steps rather than write EVERYTHING down which is so hard to do while trying to comprehend. (Gorgievski, Stroud, Truxaw, &DeFranco , 2005, p. 97) Image from: http://www.mupad.com/mathpad/2007/s zabo/figure1.jpg 10. Learning Theories Applied Constructivism Individual access to a computer allows for constructivist projects Students have the necessary resources to conduct the research needed Instructivism Improves lectures with easy ability to annotate presentations Easily add equations, diagrams, etc. to lectures Allows students to retrieved stored lecture notes 11.
