INSTALLATION OF GPG4WIN KLEOPATRA SOFTWARE
Navigate to the following link and download Gpg4win 2.1.0.
http://www.gpg4win.org/download.html
Click “Run” to initiate the download when prompted.
Click “Next”

Click “Next”
Use default settings and click “Next”

Install to default folder. Click “Next”
Choose “Start Menu” (or other options if you desire) and click “Next”

Allow the default folder, click “Install”
Click “Next”

Check the “Root certificate defined or skip configuration” box
Click “Next”
Click “Finish”

Open Kleopatra.
You will not have existing certificates at this point.
Select “File”, then “New Certificate” to create a certificate for yourself.
Select “Create a personal OpenPGP key pair” and click “Next”

Enter your Name and Email address and click “Next”
Click “Create Key”

Create a passphrase for yourself. Keep this in a safe place as you would your other
important passwords. Click “OK”
Re-enter passphrase for verification. Click “OK”
Click “Make a Backup Of Your Key Pair” and click “Finish”.

Your personal certificate should now be shown. In the example are two certificates.
You should only have one. Right click your certificate and click “Export Certificates”.
Save the certificate to the folder of your choice as an “.asc” file.

You will import certificates from others in a similar manner. They should send you their
key in an “.asc” file. Save that file to the folder of your choice.
In Kleopatra, click “Import Certificates” and select the file that you just saved.
Click “Open”

Click “OK”
Right click the newly imported certificate and select “Certify Certificate”
Check both boxes and then click “Next”

Select “Certify for everyone to see” and check the box below it.
Click “Certify”
Click “Finish”
(Ignore the error message in the example – illustrates a certificate that already exists).
IMPORTANT:
You should certify your own personal certificate as well in the same manner as
described above.

FILE ENCRYPTION & DECRYPTION
ENCRYPTING:
Click on “File” and then “Sign/Encrypt Files”
Choose the file for encryption and click “Open”

Select “Sign and Encrypt (OpenPGP only) and click “Next”
Choose your recipient’s key AS WELL AS YOUR KEY and click “Add”
Click “Next”
Click “Sign & Encrypt”

Enter your Passphrase and click “OK”
Click “Finish”
The file will be saved as the original document with a file extension of “.gpg”
The encrypted file may now be sent to your intended recipient.

DECRYPTING:
Select “File” and then “Decrypt/Verify Files”
Locate the file to be decrypted and click “Open”

Leave all boxes on the default settings and specify your Output folder. You may change
the default folder if desired. Click “Decrypt/Verify”
This is verification that the file has been successfully decrypted and placed in the
Output folder.
The file is now saved in its original readable format.
