Rotation with non-host crops to reduce soil

populations through natural decline

Weed control: control weeds that can be a host to

beet cyst nematodes

Trap crops: a crop that attracts nematodes but often

does not allow them to develop successfully

Beet cyst nematode tolerant or resistant varieties

Application of foliar, soil or seed applied chemicals or

biologicals that also fit into a integrated management

program and are helpful in the control of BCN

populations

Currently 20% of all acres are planted with nematode tolerant varieties

By 2022, nematodes will drive 30% of planting decisions (342,000 acres).

Postioning of Clariva pn (Pasteuria nishizawae) as a seed-applied biological

control agent for enhanced BCN control on nematode tolerant sugar beet varieties.
