From the Principal: Welcome Back to term 4! I firstly hope that each and every family had an enjoyable break and were able to spend some quality time with their loved ones. Whilst every term seems to be extremely busy, this term is no different. To think that we are almost two weeks down, with only 8 weeks of learning for 2019, there is still plenty of opportunity for students to develop. This year we have been continually developing practice on our reading skills. As staff we are weekly upskilling our understanding and knowledge around the teaching of reading and reflecting on our current practice in order to make improvements. This in turn, ensures that your child receives the best possible, evidence-based practice around reading development. This week every child will receive their reading goal for the term. These goals are used in class and should also provide a discussion point throughout home-reading time. By having students articulating their goal, it gives them the opportunity to demonstrate mastery and build on any misconceptions in their reading. Please check to see that your child’s reading goal is in their home reading folder and used each night. Breakfast club has begun this term and we welcome all to join. Breakfast club begins at 8am each day and we encourage all to attend. Cereals, toast and fruit will be on offer to all attendees. Fitness club will also be trialled this term. Students will have access to the tennis court to participate in physical activity before school. Please remember that students are required to prepare themselves for the day, before they enter the tennis court. Fitness club will begin after 8am. Thanks to Marie for hostingthese sessions. Swimming begins on Tuesday, week 3. This term we have Bianca from Kilkivan assisting in the swimming lessons, along with Ms Bannister and Mrs Matthews. Swimming will be each week on Tuesday’s from week 3 – 9. Children will board the bus at 12:40pm to arrive, ready for their lesson by 1pm. Please ensure that all children have the following each week; - Swimming togs - Sunsafe shirt - Goggles (if sensitive to chorline) - Towel - Water bottle - Underwear (if wearing togs to school) Art this term will be Dance. Dance Fever will once again attend our school on Thursday to engage students in new forms of dance. It is great to see and hear the students taking on a challenge and enjoying themselves throughoutthese sessions.
