Music Video For The Thrills: Saturday Night

Page 2: T1-28 powerpoint

Style• We are choosing to do our video in

mixed-media animation. We will be using different techniques to build up the scenes.

Californication – Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

The Firm – Star Trekkin’.

A-Ha – Take On Me.

The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby.

Using idea’s we’ve gained from watching various animated music videos, we will try and incorporate a number of these techniques such as rotoscoping, anime, object animation and live action/animation in our own video. Primarily using iStopmotion, we will use childish drawings, magazine cuttings and photo’s taken by ourselves and them modified on Photoshop also in our video.

Initial ideas• The lyrics of our chosen song discuss three topics, Love, Hate and Sex. We

thought about depicting different interpretations of these emotions that show them in different lights and demonstrate the many ways people perceive them. We decided the best way to do this was to create a montage style video, that still manages to maintain a narrative, so not too random.

Sex-Sims style leg of the bedbanging against the floor.-Cheesy guy and girl in abedroom, curtains slowlyclose.- Romantic silhouettes.

Love-Animated beating hearts.- Actual realistic looking heart.-Pink colours – love connotations

Hate-Green-eyed person.-Red colours: angry connotations

The Thrills’ inspiration

The Thrills are very much inspired by 60’s America. This is demonstrated through their choice of costume in each of the their videos, the locations they shoot them in, and the washed out, light sepia, vintage filter they use on their videos. To keep in tone with their image, we have decided to let the 60’s inspire our costume, location and filter choices. For example, one of our locations we will have our animated character in, will be a typical 1960’s American

street. Also, as the emergence of the hippie

age in America began in the early 60’s, we will try

to include aspects of this in our

video, hoping to make it more authentic and to capture essence

of the 60’s, The Thrills always

strived for.

Locations, Costumes and Props.Locations: Traditional 1960’s American settings. Streets, bedroom, nightclub and a diner.

Costume: Hippie inspired, casual, very 60’s influenced with a hint of indie style.

Props: drawings, photos, magazine cuttings, and any other media we choose to include in our video.

The Album Cover

Our album cover will definitely incorporate the animation theme that will be constant in our video, in order to create a motif for the track and all it’s advertisement. Initial ideas for the album cover include…- A montage of animations used throughout our video.- A simple design, featuring just one of our animations on a plain background with the track and band names.- An animated scene of a typical English Saturday night.- An animated scene of a night sky, maybe including a city skyline with the focus on one particular house.
