One of the countries that has the highest quality indices in education is South Korea, even tough they are in the process of developing. They are investing as much as they can in education, because they consider that education is crucial for success.

The government invests 4.6% of PIB in education, which gets excellent results in the Program for International students Assessment (PISA).

Besides, South Korean’s educational system is technologically advanced and it is the first country in the world that carried rapid access to broadband internet in each primary and secondary school in the country.

Nowadays South Korean education is developing a plan called “Smart Education”, which started in 1995 when the government introduced the plan to enhance education with ICT in schools, and then in 2005 they began to distribute and utilize ICT in classrooms. Now, the objective of smart education is to digitalize Korea’s entire school curriculum by 2015. The program is designed to response to 21st century education challenges by moving from uniform and standardized education to diversified, creativity-based learning, while at the same bridging the educational gap by making access to all

In the society of knowledge, 21st century, teaching need current ways to encourage students learning, that is why, ICTs are gaining more interest from schools.

There are products that are changing the way of teaching; here will find the latest trends in teaching.

One of the most sticking is the implementation of “digital textbooks”, which are executed through Tablet PC with touch screen, so you can read, hear, and manipulate, working and writing directly on them, as if they were notebooks, using the keyboard and a special pen.

The digital textbook project aims at helping children to engage with others in developing their knowledge.Digital textbooks can have images and videos, which makes learning more effective and possible for children.

Another internal function of digital textbooks is the “memo” or “note”. Using the pen with digital textbooks, you can do highlighting, writing, and erasing like in a memo or notebook. You are not limited to just take notes. Afterwards, you can forward what you have written to the teacher for review. The teacher is able to review everything instantly, so it is a more effective way for teachers to assess how students are doing.

It is a good idea to have in mind that the money that we give to our children is usually spent on unhealthy snacks that are commonly served in vending machines or kiosks in schools, which often sell sodas, candy bars, cookies, chips and other low-nutrition foods. However, the biggest problem is that instead of eating them only as a snack, our children eat them as a lunch which is very detrimental to their health. To avoid this, we must buy the following products that they can eat in their breaks and avoid to give them money to buy other snacks that are unhealthy.

Applesauce cups (unsweetened)

Bottled water

Chex Mix, Traditional

Dole or Del Monte fruit cups

Low-fat or fat-free milk

Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Oats ‘N Honey

Orange juice (100%)

Raisins and unsweetened dried fruit

It is a matter of fact that to learn something new is not easy for some students, even when we make worksheets or explain the same thing lot of times. This is a big problem for us because we need that our students learn. In this article we will show you a way to facilitate our students learning by playing , yes, playing !

Action Race: This is a fun game using actions. Use actions like jump, hop, clap, run etc. Have the Ss split into two teams and sit in lines with a chair by each team and one chair at the another end of the room. One S from each team stands next to their chair and T calls an action, e.g. "Jump". Ss must jump to the chair on the other side of the room and back, sitting down in their chair Ss say "I can jump". The first one who does it gets their team a point.

Zoo Game: This is a fun activity for young learners on the topic of animal noises. After teaching the animals and their noises sit each S in a different part of the classroom and assign them different animals (to make it clearer you can give each S a flashcard of the animal they are representing). Walk around the room and talk to each S, who can only reply as an animal. E.g. T: "Hello Yumi", S1:"Moo! (cow). T: "What's your name?" S2: "Roar!" (lion). T: "How are you, Kenta?" S3: "Bow-wow!" (dog).

Glee is a popular musical TV program, about teenagers that are not socially accepted at school, they suffer bullying from other students.

In this funny serie, teachers can feel reflected in the way that Mr. Shuster acts with the students; he encourages his students to be more confident and found out that they are as good as the rest of their classmates.

A teacher tries to help them by creating a choir to improve artistic abilities and also to achieve confidence in themselves.

This demonstrates that it’s important to not only improve abstract abilities in our students, but also artistic activities. In this way students can develop different skills that the teacher must encourage.

Here we have an educational perspective of this famous TV program.
