FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
This week our year 6 students have been participating in Peer Support training. This will enable them to implement the Peer Support program in term 2, working in small groups with students from all grades. This is a popular and effective program for all our students. Our P&C and SRC disco will be held this Friday evening. The students have a great time dancing and eating their way through the session. Can you please ensure that staff and parent helpers have a great time also by collecting your child on time. Please check the times in the newsletter. We will have a busy week next week with Cross Country on Monday, Athletics Field Events on Wednesday, Easter Hat Parade on Thursday and Merit Assembly on Friday. Definitely a fun but busy time! We have started to construct the outdoor tables purchased early this year. Two of them are already in use and very popular with the children. They are bright, sturdy and comfortable and will be a real asset for outdoor learning. This week, our students in Years 3 and 5 will undertake a practise test online in preparation for NAPLAN next term. This is a 45 minute omnibus version giving them examples of the type of questions they can expect. NAPLAN will take place in week 3 next term, starting 14 May. We have been lucky enough to find someone who can repair our shade cloth over the adventure playground which was damaged in the recent storm. Hopefully, this will bring back good as new providing shade for our students. Hope to see many of you at tomorrow’s 4/5Yellow assembly.

What is The Big Vegie Crunch?
Did you know that only 5.4% of Australian children eat enough
vegetables?
To encourage students to eat more vegetables, our school will be taking part in The Big Vegie Crunch
(as part of Vegetable Week) on Tuesday 9 April, 2019.
What can you do to help? Pack a container of vegetables (not fruit) for your child to eat
on the day.
Keep serving up the vegetables at home!

The Premier's Reading Challenge has begun! All primary students have been shown how to enter the books they have read onto the PRC website. This year there will be a competition between the Primary
classes to see which class can read the most books and enter them into the system by the end of the challenge - 30 August. Infants students will
be reading books together during class and library time.
Next week, the Library Monitors will be hosting their first Braddy Book Shop. Students who have earned a Star Reader Voucher will be invited to attend and take home a new book! At this stage, the only students
who have received a Star Reader Voucher are those who have received Reader of the
Month. Hopefully, by next term, students who have been regular library borrowers and students who have been completing the Home Reading program will be rewarded
with a Star Reader Voucher!
