We have reached the end of an extraordinary year in a solid financial position, despite significant disruption and ongoing uncertainty brought by COVID-19. A prudent and strategic approach has helped us remain sustainable this year and continue our important work ending cruelty to all animals. The Board of Directors is grateful for the collaboration and support of the Victorian and Australian Government and their agencies, for the financial assistance provided by the JobKeeper scheme and the contribution to the work of our Inspectorate during a time of need. Alongside generous community support and Gifts in Wills, this has enabled us to continue delivering vital community services for Victoria. The year saw planning and preparation for major infrastructure works at our Peninsula site, made possible with funding support from the Victorian Government. A renovated dog adoption area, revitalised paddocks, new horse stables and improved cat accommodation are some of the transformational changes on the way. These facilities will significantly improve our ability to achieve the best welfare outcome for every animal in our care, which is one of our strategic goals. Throughout the uncertainty of COVID-19 we have addressed each challenge with a careful and considered approach. Our focus remains on ensuring high levels of animal welfare, the safety and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers and our financial sustainability. As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2021, I reflect on our history and what we have achieved over the past 12 months, knowing that while progress is ongoing there remains much work to be done to achieve our ambitious vision. I am grateful for the ongoing support of donors, corporate partners, trusts and foundations that helped us through this difficult year. Thank you to nearly 500 staff, over 2,000 volunteers and the Board of Directors, who have never wavered in their commitment to our shared vision. Your dedication, expertise and passion for animal welfare is paramount to our success. I look forward to another year where we make purposeful, tangible strides to improve animal welfare in Victoria. Bernie Delaney Chair and Non-Executive Director RSPCA Victoria Board The incredible challenges of the summer bushfires and COVID-19 defined this year. With the support of our generous community we remained focused on our vision during very challenging times. We explored the power of community outreach through ‘Latrobe Loves Pets’, assisting 407 animals and 243 individuals in the City of Latrobe with direct support, a social marketing campaign and education programs. Evaluation of the pilot revealed the success of targeted interventions. We launched five advocacy goals, alongside an advocacy bulletin and online forums, to purposefully address key animal welfare issues: 1. End duck shooting in Victoria 2. Significant animal welfare improvements across the three racing codes 3. Proactive, humane management of overabundant wild animal populations 4. Improved farm animal welfare standards 5. Animal welfare legislation reform in Victoria. Our foster care program hit a wonderful milestone – a record 3,774 animals were cared for by 1,698 volunteers. We worked on continuous improvements, focusing on operational efficiency, new adoption processes and additional training and education for animal care teams. We completed upgrades to our Wangaratta shelter and commenced major infrastructure works at RSPCA Peninsula. We were there to help when the bushfires hit. Our Mobile Animal Clinic was deployed to Bairnsdale to treat injured wildlife and we helped those needing refuge. Generous community support for our Bushfire Appeal meant that we formed ongoing partnerships with organisations such as Youth Affairs Council to aid recovery and increase disaster-preparedness. The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant financial and operational challenges. I am proud of the way our people adapted and continued our vital work. Whether it was digitising education programs, moving to adoptions by appointment or implementing new protocols to keep Inspectors safe while investigating cruelty, we ensured animals were not forgotten during the pandemic. Thank you to our employees, volunteers and Board for their dedication and resilience. Thank you sincerely to our donors and partners for making our work possible. The pandemic did not stop animal cruelty and we are grateful for your support – now more than ever. More animals are adopted. 4 Support our people to do their great work. Employee and volunteer engagement increases. Fewer work-related injuries and illnesses. Contemporary integrated systems in place. 5 Manage costs efficiently, and grow reliable revenue streams. Our strategy reduces our exposure to economic fluctuations. GOAL GOAL

Bernie Delaney Chair and Non-Executive Director RSPCA Victoria Board

The incredible challenges of the summer bushfires and COVID-19 defined this year.

We launched five advocacy goals, alongside an advocacy bulletin and online forums, to purposefully address key animal welfare issues:1. End duck shooting in Victoria2. Significant animal welfare improvements across the three

racing codes3. Proactive, humane management of overabundant wild

animal populations4. Improved farm animal welfare standards5.
