15TH ALL FORD SHOW
Kurt, Terry Thompson, JC Edwards, and Greg Griffith recently met with Doug Barbour to discuss our upcoming car show on October 12. Doug explained that the dealership on Market Street would not be availa-ble for our show after this year’s show. The main showroom is being renovated in preparation for the Nissan Dealership taking possession but we will be able to use the detail shop on the site for our staff preparations and show administration for this year’s show. We will have our hospitality area set up in there and the show staff will have access to a rest room in this building. We will rent facilities for the show participants.
Kurt also explained that for the 2014 show we will be selling raffle tickets to give away a 2015 Mustang! He has challenged us to sell 1,000 tickets at $50 per ticket. We will begin selling at this year’s show and sell throughout the year. This will be a special raffle and it should not be difficult to sell 1,000 tickets in a year’s time. We will also make the tickets available on line using PayPal with a limited number reserved for sale at the 2014 show.
We are still in need of some large vendors for this year’s show but we do have several already commit-ted to attending. Please call Kari ASAP if you talk to someone who would like to be a vendor. The Ford Mer-chandising Truck will be onsite again for our show. The folks that bring the truck assured Kurt that he will have plenty of the “next great item” available for us to purchase since we purchased all of his Pink Jackets last year.
At our next meeting on Sunday, October 6, we will hold our “in house show” where we judge our own cars. This gives our judging teams an opportunity to rehearse for the next week and since we do not enter our cars in the show it gives us a chance to have a little show fun too. The location of the October meeting is still in flux due to the renovations that will be in progress at Market Street. Keep an eye on the website, emails, (and postcards) for further information to come.
To reiterate, we will not be able to use this location for the 2014 show and there are several possible locations being investigated. We have a possible lead on an area at UNCW for our show. We will keep everyone updated as things progress.
Kurt has the volunteer sheets and those lists are included in this newsletter. If you are not on a list, find
the spot that you feel that you can best help the day of the show and let Kurt know ASAP. We will meet the evening before our show to fix the goodie bags and other items that can be prepared in advance. If you are available please plan to come and help, as the old saying goes many hands make light work. Last year we had a large number of members attend and we were able to finish quickly. We will meet at the detail shop of the Market Street dealership at 6:00PM on Friday night October 11.
Remember that we need the folks helping for the show to bring food and beverages for the staff to share during the day. We will need both breakfast and lunch items and easy to eat snacks. Bonnie will be hav-ing her Bake Sale as well so if you are a baker please consider bringing something for her to add to her won-drous baked goods.
Terry, JC and Kurt before their meeting about our show. Marlene, John, and Mickey enjoy our meeting in South-
THE PONY EXPRESS Page 3 15th Annual All Ford Car & Truck Show
From the Chairman: This is the last newsletter before this year’s show, so I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped to date, and for those signed up to work at the 15th Annual SENCMC All Ford Car & Truck Show. THANK YOU! As we have for the past 3 years, we will host a Member’s Only Car Show at our Sunday meeting, October 6th. Due to the construction be-ginning at the Market Street location, the location for this meeting and car show is still to be determined. But shine ‘em up and bring ‘em out! Again, we will have two classes: Judged and Member’s Vote. Top 3 in each class will walk away with an award.
We still need door prizes and goodie bag stuffers!!! If you can get anything from your local insurance agent or auto parts store, let us know! We need stuff! The Ford Merchandise Trailer is coming back again this year! And just announced, the Richard Petty Motorsports NASCAR Ford display car is also coming!!! Thank you so much to Neill Anders for arranging this visit, and a special thank you to his company, Murphy Brown LLC, a division of Smithfields, who is a primary sponsor for the RPM Ford!
We have some great news also: We have some awesome raffle prizes this year – Katrina Hull & Bruce Sandy have secured a seven day use of a beautiful beach house in Carolina Beach! Free of charge!! And David Hunter is constructing a pair of very cool one-off Mustang cornhole boards! I’ve seen both, and you will definitely want to buy some tickets for these prizes!!! We will also be announcing the big giveaway for next year: a 1 in a 1000 chance of driving away with a brand new 2015 Mus-tang! We are selling a very limited number of tickets (just 1000!) to make the chances of winning very high. Tickets will go on sale at this year’s show, and cost only $50 per ticket. We will sell them throughout the coming year, and the drawing will be held at the 2014 SENCMC show. The following folks have signed up to work this year’s show. If you don’t see your name on a list, and you want to work a posi-tion, give Kurt a call at (910) 265-8265, or drop him an e-mail at [email protected].
