Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,

Congratulations to all of our graduates in the Class of 2018! It seems that in the past two weeks and this weekend, many of our students have graduated from high school, college, eighth grade. kindergarten and preschool. I hope the best is yet to come for all of you. Enjoy this time to celebrate your accomplishments and prepare for the next step.

Last week, we had two high schools whose graduation weeks were effected by violence. Locally, Dixon High School was effected and gratefully no one was hurt or killed. Officer Dallas was a parishioner at the parish in Sterling where I was pastor for 10 years. He is a good man. Santa Fe, Texas was unfortunately effected most by losing eight students and two faculty in yet another school shooting there. In both cases we had students using their parent’s guns. It is my hope that all these incidents will make us as parents and adults look at our-selves and ask how can we preserve the simple safety and security of our children. I saw that more were killed in high schools this year than in the military. I ask us all to pray for the willingness to work together to find a solution.

2018 Diocesan Summer Vocation Camps St. Therese—June 24-27—Young Women’s Camp & Retreat: Young women entering 7th grade through college age are invited to attend to have fun and learn about religious life from a several religious communities who will be present. Jeremiah Days—July 8-11—Young Men’s Camp Young men entering 7th grade through high school fresh-men are invited to attend to explore whatever vocation the Lord has in store for them. First Call—July15-18—Young Men’s Retreat Young men entering 10th grade through college age are invited to delve into and consider the richness of the priest-ly vocation and religious life.

All camps begin with check-in at 6:15 PM on Sunday fol-lowed by Mass with their families at 7 PM. Camp/retreats end at 11 AM on Wednesdays and are held at Bishop Lane Retreat Center in Rockford. Registration forms and permis-sion slips are available at rockforddiocese.org/vocations.

“Rest in His Arms” Sewing Workshop “Rest in His Arms” is again hosting a sewing workshop where you can learn to convert an old bridal gown into “angel gowns.” The angel gowns are given to grieving families when their babies do not make it home due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. They gowns are sent to hospitals, funeral homes and individual families. You’ll be shown the process and will work alongside veteran gown volunteers who can easily prove you with help. Your project can be completed at home and turned into a local area coordinator. Bridal dresses, patters and samples will be provided, along with lunch. The workshop will be held on Saturday, June 2, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM in Sherry Center. Please bring your sewing machine, scissors/rotary cutters, pins and seam rippers. Celebrating a Special Anniversary? Couples celebrating the milestone wedding anniver-saries of 25, 50, 55, 60, and 65 or more years of marriage in 2018 are invited to a special Mass cele-brated by Bishop Malloy at St. Mary Parish in Huntley on Sunday, August 19, at 2:30 PM. Dementia Discussion Group Meeting Our presenter at our last meeting for this year will be Don Herman Gaul, our facilitator for the past eight months. Don’s wife, Ann, has had memory issues for the past nine years and now has Alzheimer’s. His topic is: You are Not Alone: Support Strategies; Caregiving Capabilities, and Additional Handouts. Family members, caregivers and loved ones are encouraged to attend, comment and ask questions. Our meeting is on Wednesday, June 13, from 10:30 AM in Apostles Bay.

Respect Life Ministry Offers Thanks The Respect Life Ministry and 1st Way Life Center are very grateful for the support of our parish for two recent fundraising efforts: $1,639.50 was raised from the Baby Bottle Collection and $1,850 from the Mother’s Day Flower Sale. Your gifts help moms faced by unex-pected pregnancies choose life for their babies and allow 1st Way to provide them with love, hope and assistance. Please continue to keep your Spiritually Adopted mothers and babies in your prayers, who would now be four months along in the pregnancy.

Solemnidad de La Santísima Trinidad La Solemnidad que hoy celebramos es la fiesta del misterio de Dios. San Pablo nos ha dicho en el saludo inicial "que la gracia del Señor Jesús, el amor del Padre y la co-munión del Espíritu Santo esté con vosotros". En este saludo somos bendecidos por el Dios que es Uno y Trino: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. La Santísima Trinidad es lo que Dios es en privado. La Trinidad es la vida secreta de Dios.
