Sika® Cable Primer Plus, Sika® Cable TOP-1 and Sika® Cable TOP-2 have low solvent content according to Protective Coatings Directive of German Paint Industry Association (VdL-RL 04). Sika® Cable Primer Plus: 2-pack primer of low solvent content, based on epoxy resin. The product contains micaceous iron oxide, is versatile overcoatable, of high chemical and mechan- ical resistance and adheres very well to steel and gal- vanized steel. Sika® Cable TOP-1: 2-pack intermediate coat of low solvent content, based on polyurethane. It contains micaceous iron ox- ide and is of high elasticity, impact strength, wear res- istance and very good corrosion protection. The product is high-build applicable and very fast curing. Sika® Cable TOP-2: 2-pack flexible, lightfast and weather resistant poly- urethane top coat of low solvent content. Sika® Cable Flex-1: Flexible, solvent-free 2-pack sealant based on poly- urethane. Because of its high flexibility and expansion ability it is especially suitable for filling joints and gaps exposed to vibration (e.g. anchoring of bridge cables). Sika® Cable Flex-2: Flexible, solvent-free 2-pack injection resin of low vis- cosity based on polyurethane for filling hollow spaces (e.g. parallel cables). It has a high penetration ability. USES Sika® Cable-System may only be used by experienced professionals. Flexible and high-build corrosion protection for bridge cables of steel and galvanized steel. BASIS OF PRODUCT DATAAll technical data stated in this Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests. Actual measured data may vary due to circumstances beyond our control.

ECOLOGY, HEALTH AND SAFETYUser must read the most recent corresponding Safety Data Sheets (SDS) before using any products. The SDS provides information and advice on the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemical products and con-tains physical, ecological, toxicological and other safety-related data.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSSURFACE PREPARATION

Steel:Blast-cleaning to Sa 2 ½ according to ISO 12944-4.Free from dirt, oil and grease. Galvanized steel:Free from oil, grease and corrosion products.Surface preparation according to ZTV-ING, part 4, sec-tion 5 ‘Corrosion protection of cables and ropes’.

MIXING

Coating materials:Stir Component A very thoroughly using an electric stirrer. Add component B and mix both components very thoroughly (including sides and bottom of the container). Sika® Cable Flex-1 and Sika® Cable Flex-2:Stir component A slowly by means of an electric stirrer (max. 300 rpm), subsequently add hardener in the cor-rect mixing proportion and mix intensively again using an electric stirrer (300 - 500 rpm) until a homogeneous mixture is achieved (min. 3 minutes). Take care that no air is entrapped.

APPLICATION

Coating materials: The method of application has a major effect on achieving uniform thickness and appearance. Adding solvents reduces the sag resistance and the dry film thickness. In case of application by roller or brush, ad-ditional applications may become necessary to achieve the required coating thickness, depending on type of construction, site conditions, colour shade etc. Prior to major coating operations a test application on site may be useful to ensure the selected application method will provide the requested results.

By brush and roller:According to ZTV-KOR 'Cables' brushing is the pre-ferred application method

Where light and intense colour shades are applied, a second top coat might become necessary

Sika® Cable Flex-1 and Sika® Cable Flex-2:

The application technique depends on the design features of the project

Steel and galvanized steel have to be primed with Sika® Cable Primer Plus

Do not thin Sika® Cable Flex-1 and Sika® Cable Flex-2!
