whilst working in the football

This is a unique opportunity to undertake either vocational or academic studies within a
professional sports environment, whilst working as a Sports Leadership apprentice.
Synergy Sports Academy is led by a team of professionals, including Chesterfield FC
legends Mark Jules and Andy Morris (Bruno), former Chesterfield Academy manager Dave
Bentley, David O'Hare and Matt Chatfield.
Both Jules and Bentley are level 2, UEFA B and UEFA A trained coaches.
Synergy are also delighted to announce that ex-England, Bolton and Chesterfield player
Kevin Davies and local legend Jack Lester are heavily endorsing the plans, offering on-
going support.
All successful applicants will also have the opportunity to play regular competitive football
and receive UEFA level coaching within an Academy environment.
The Academy’s directors are passionate and want to encourage football, in a better way,
at the grass roots level. They have been closely involved with the sport for
many years and have had significant experience at management level.
Years of experience in delivering apprenticeships in a variety of sectors, as well as a genuine
passion for helping people to truly reach their potential, define what C.B.D. bring to the
partnership.

In year 1 you will have the opportunity to:
Complete your Level 2 NVQ in Sports Activity Leadership
Complete FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
Then in year 2 make your next move:
Academic path
Extended Diploma in Sports (Development Coaching & Fitness)
Extended Diploma in Sports (Performance & Excellence)
Or work based learning
Advanced Apprenticeship in Sport Development
What is Sports Activity Leadership?
The Sport Activity Leadership course will appeal to
those that enjoy the challenge of arranging sporting
events and participating in a range of outdoor
activities.
What will the course involve?
The course covers 13 units to achieve a total of 60 credits at Level 2. It is a newly developed
course to meet the demands of the Leisure Industry and is delivered over one academic year
Prepare for activity session
Lead activity sessions
Conclude and review sessions
Support the work of the team and organisation
Promote health and safety welfare in active leisure and recreation
Support equality and diversity in active leisure
Support the development of the sport or activity
Look after participants when they are away from home
Contribute to adventurous activities

Apprenticeships give you the potential to gain career enhancing qualifcations whilst earning a wage.
Your Employment You will be employed by Synergy Sports Academy Ltd on a full time basis as a Leadership and Development Assistant (30 hours per week) All employed apprentices will get a wage. The new National Minimum Wage came into force on the 1 October 2010. The wage applies to all apprentices aged under 19 and apprentices aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The apprentice minimum wage is currently £2.65 per hour and applies to time working, plus time spent training that is part of the Apprenticeship. This rate applies to all 16 to 18 year olds and to those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. If you reach age 19 and have completed your first year of your Apprenticeship you must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage for your age. Like most other employees, you will be given at least 20 days paid holiday a year as well as bank holidays.
